Digitata Networks offers a range of software products developed to control, monitor and automate all major mobile technologies (2G, 3G, 4G and WiFi) across the different domains within a telecommunications network (Subscriber, RAN, Core and TX). These vendor-agnostic products include Configuration Management, Performance and Revenue Monitoring, Asset Tracking and Customer Experience Management.
About Digitata Networks
NetEngine is Digitata Networks’ Data Collecting Engine – an application that
collects data from multiple sources and consolidates it into a
centralised database through a unique ETL process.
The 4 Digitata Networks’ products provide dierent views and analysis of this collected data within the dierent domains in the network.

NetENGINE
Data is extracted from various sources, transformed into a specific format, and then loaded into a centralised database. This database forms the core of all the products and services offered by Digitata Networks.
Configuration Management Data is extracted from the different vendor OSS systems. This is either done by running MML commands and saving the results, or by downloading XML files.
The PM data is extracted from the various vendor OSS systems in csv or xml format. The raw data is then aggregated and stored in the database.
Subscriber Experience data is collected from Subscriber Devices with the NetCE app installed. The raw data is then aggregated and stored in the database.
Multiple data formats can be imported from external data sources via the RDBMS connector or csv files. These include databases from planning tools, optimisation tools and inventory management systems.

NetCM
NetCM is a configuration management product that provides visibility, highlights configuration inconsistencies in parameter configurations and allows for corrections to be made (automated or semi automated)
With NetCM, comparisons can be made automatically between all the various network elements. This includes planned vs live, policy vs live, current vs past network configuration
The network configuration data in NetCM can be visualised in various ways including: hierarchical, table, graph and GIS views.
NetCM reports on common configuration issues in the network, and can also be customised with bespoke reports as required by an operator. The reports can be viewed in a tabular, graphical and GIS format and can be emailed daily.
If NetVU is also installed, configuration changes can be correlated with changes in network performance and vice versa.
Data is extracted from the network automatically, and fixes to the configuration issues identified can be automated to run into the network at scheduled times.

NetVU
A Key Performance Indicator Monitoring product that allows monitoring of KPIs and Revenue* Trends in a network. It is focussed at management and engineering and can provide correlation between configuration changes and network performance.
The KPI dashboard contains configurable dials with different key performance indicators. It’s a quick snapshot to see how the network is performing.
The Analyser allows the user to select Network Elements, KPIs or counters and a time frame, which results in different charts and tables with the corresponding data.
Standard as well as customised reports on network KPIs and Revenue* can be viewed or emailed on a regular basis.
If NetCM is also installed, configuration changes can be correlated with changes in network performance and vice versa.

NetAM
NetAM is an Asset Management product that can monitor both Live and Passive Assets within a network.
Live assets (such as BTS and BSC boards) are tracked by querying the network directly and obtaining the asset information.
Passive assets such as aircons and batteries, can be tracked by making use of RFID tags and readers. This information can be stored and reported on, so that an entire sites inventory can be tracked and monitored.
Manual site surveys or audits can be captured using an app with standard and customisable forms.
External inventory databases can be integrated into the solution. The data can be used to do correlations between the Live and Passive asset audits, and the database can be automatically updated to reflect what is in the network.
Assets are tracked by serial number or RFID tag and any addition, removal or movement can be reported on.

NetCE
NNetCE is a Customer Experience app that lives on the handsets of the subscribers. It monitors the customer’s experience of the network and reports back to a centralised server for further analysis by network engineers.
For normal subscribers the app will run in passive monitoring mode. This means it will collect data about call quality, call drops etc, in the background without the subscriber having to do anything. This data is then sent to a centralised server.
All the data collected from subscribers can be viewed and analysed in different ways by an engineer on an online portal. This includes reports on the different events in tabular, graphical and geographical formats.
Customers can log complaints directly on the App, and receive feedback on these complaints too.
Engineers can use the App in active monitoring mode in order to perform drive tests. The data is collected along the route and uploaded to the centralised server for quick analysis of problem areas.
If many subscribers have the app installed, the operator essentially ends up with a multitude of network quality testers. If multiple people in the same area are experiencing a similar problem, the engineers can react quicker to fix the problem.

NPA Network Parameter Audit (NPA) services use the NetCM platform to identify issues with the configuration of the network, and highlight any parameters which do not conform to OEM best practices or operator specific policies.
NPO Network Performance Overview (NPO) services use the NetVU platform to display Key Performance Indicators at a network level, as well as show trends in the network performance.
NRO* Network Revenue Overview (NRO) services use the NetVU platform to report on revenue trends in the network based on IN CDR data.

NPA GroupOPCO Reports
For Group OPCOs, Digitata Networks offers a Network Parameter Health Report, which provides a standardised way to compare and measure the different networks in the group with one another in terms of parameter issues using a Configuration Health Index (CHI).
An audit is run on each network, and an NPHI value is assigned based on the number of errors identified in the network, taking into consideration the impact of the issues on network performance as well as the network size.

NPA Use Cases
Menu
A number of operators have seen significant improvement in network quality and revenue after fixing issues that were identified using Digitata Network’s NPA Service.
Using NPA, we identified over 9000 One Way Intra Frequency Neighbours configured in the network at a small African operator. These were subsequently fixed, and an improvement in Handover Success Rate was seen.
An operator in Europe was concerned about feature utilisation in their network. With NPA, we were able to identify that the HSPA+ feature was not enabled correctly on 10% of cells. After identifying the cells, the feature was enabled, ensuring that the network assets were being used to their full potential.
At a Tier 1 operator in Africa, we found that due to configuration and transmission restraints EDGE was disabled for certain cells.
The Huawei feature, FLEXIBLE ABIS makes ABIS utilisation more efficient. Enabling this feature on the affected cells ensured that EDGE could be enabled on these cells.
NPA identified 5% of the network that was configured to FIXED ABIS. These cells were reconfigured to include FLEXIBLE ABIS and EDGE was enabled at the same time.
There was a significant increase in EDGE traffic, and increased revenue as a result.
Edge Not Enabled
One Way Neighbours
With NPA, a number of Deactivated and Blocked cells were identified at a small network in Africa. A few of these cells belonged to new sites, but many cells were active in the network previously.
After activating the cells that were not supposed to be deactivated, the operator saw an increase in traffic due to the affected cells now being able to process calls.

Challenges on passive assets Offered Solution
Why Asset Verification
Inability to proactivelytrack assets
Inconsistent capturingof information
No standard way to identify all passive
assets
Centralised FAR database that is
populated with correct information
Active and passive data consolidated in a
single DB
Verifiable, geo-located and photographic
evidence of every asset identified
Digitised at source
Near real-time access to captured data (Remote Receiver

Multi-vendor, automated active asset gathering,
hardware identification and software version
identification
Inability to account for equipment leads to
the FAR not reflecting what is actually in the
field
Loss of information
Assets easily movedby vendors or stolen
Inconsistent description of
information elements and their conditions
