What is digital storytelling? “Telling stories and sharing information

with multimedia tools and resources” (Yuksel, Robin & McNeil, 2010).

“When the computer is a character in a story, a narrator, or an interface” (Petrakis, 1999).

“A form of narrative expression that is crafted into a media production” (Tucker, 2011).

The definitions are endless…

What kind of equipment is needed for digital storytelling? Digital still cameras Digital video cameras Multi-functional cell phones Computers Basically, any digital device that can

capture audio, video, or both

Why use digital storytelling? It’s a great way for students to present

their work effectively and engagingly Gives students a chance to work with a

lot of different media Helps students examine how media can

be used to persuade others Students can expand the audience for

their work by presenting it online
