THE SOLUTION

CyberStream’s digital signage management platform, DSplay, has been chosen as a core component for this implementation. Its powerful features, open architecture and ability to integrate with Cisco media players and touch screen devices created a reliable foundation for the applications that were developed.

Cisco 40” LCD displays and media players provided a dependable combination for information display, while a 46” Samsung network touch-screen was used to implement the requested Information Point placed by the reception at the hospital entrance. DSplay is being used to deliver management of devices, content, schedules, roles and touch events in this installation. The platform offers a unified environment for mixing different player types in the same network transparently.

Information services rendered include news, notifications, announcements, weather forecasts and RSS feeds. A tailor made application was developed to present the schedule of procedures, including doctor and patient names at selected screens.

Touch-screen applications run minimized during idle times at the Information Point, and the display is being utilized as a standard digital signage screen.

The broadcasted media conten t is planned to include third-party promotional material. The enhanced proof-of-play reporting mechanism of DSplay will provide statistics per content owner to facilitate billing.

Integration with a streaming media server enables administrators to selectively deliver free-to-air TV content at specific locations. Finally, the solution is integrated with the patient bedside entertainment and notification system, in the form of distinct video channels.
