MEQUON, Wis. – Megan Coenen has always had a tireless work ethic during her career, which has led to the senior being a model of consistency for her teammates over the past four years. The forward is the most experienced player on Concordia Wis-consin’s Women’s Basketball roster and because of that is relied on for leadership. Coenen, a native of Green Bay, Wis., is the only player in program history (NCAA era) to accumu-late 900 points and 500 rebounds, while shooting at least 49 percent. There is a reason why when the game is on the line she is on the floor giving the Falcons a chance to seal a victory or earn the win. The 5-foot-11 post player strives to be as con-sistent as possible to give her teammates a sense of calmness, thus her playing in every game for the Falcons over the past four seasons. She has also started in 74 of the past 76 games. “It really annoys me and I get super frustrated when I am not consistent, whether it be at the free throw line or defensively, because I always want to be consistent,” Coenen expressed. “I never want to be the person that has highs and lows, but if I am on a high I want to stay up there and never come back down. Being consistent makes things a lot easier.”

Coenen has been one of the most consistent players for head coach Stacey Brunner-Jones, but there a few goals still haven’t been checked off for the knowledgeable senior. The Falcons haven’t won a NACC Tournament title, and because of that haven’t advanced to the NCAA Tournament. “I don’t think we have or myself as an individ-

ual are satisfied in regards to having reached our goals,” expressed Coenen with disappointment. “We haven’t won a NACC Tournament title or advanced to the NCAA Tournament during my career, which is a goal we set to reach every year now. If we can succeed in reaching those goals, everything will have been checked off my list.”

Despite having goals left to accomplish, it doesn’t mean the lead-by-example student-athlete will do anything different. It isn’t uncommon to find Coenen in the weight room, shooting in the Field House or studying in the library. Her lead-by-ex-ample attitude is seen by her teammates and has rubbed off during her time as a Falcon. “I think it (being consistent) has helped be-cause the younger players definitely see how much hard work it takes to be successful, especial-ly from day one,” Coenen stated. “If the younger players see the hustle, sense of urgency and will to win every day; hopefully that attitude will be instilled into the younger players and it sets a pre-cedence for this program in the future.” As the end of the career for the senior slowly creeps up on her, there is one thing Coenen won’t change – her work ethic. “I want people to know that every day at prac-tice and every game I gave everything I had,” Co-enen expressed. “I want people to remember that I was a hard worker, even during the offseason to get better.”

Coenen’s work ethic, consistencyleading Falcons success
