CARLY ROBERTS CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Carly Roberts has been the creative director of ELLE Australia since the title’s launch in 2013. Her brief was to create a design that was unique, innovative and relevant to the modern woman, an achievement that was recognised when ELLE was awarded the Australian Magazine Awards Cover of the Year in 2015. Carly’s career spans 11 years, starting as a designer for SHOP before shifting into the role of deputy art director, where she oversaw the launch of SHOP 4 Kids and SHOP Weddings. A move to Madison saw a designer position evolve into a role as deputy art director. After four years, Carly made the leap into the world of interiors as art director of Real Living where a redesign resulted in a circulation boost of 40,000 and a Magazine of the Year Award in 2012. Carly now lends her creative eye to the uniquely Australian edition of ELLE.

JUSTINE CULLEN EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

After a 14-year stint as a  beauty editor, including roles at magazines including the BBC Clothes Show and Marie Claire, Justine Cullen became editor of SHOP in 2008, where she quickly took the title to its highest-ever circulation and revenue figures, and successfully launched a brand extension in the form of cult children’s fashion magazine SHOP 4 Kids. During this time she picked up multiple awards including MPA Lifestyle Magazine of the Year in 2011 and Publishers Australia Editor of the Year in 2012. In 2013, she was appointed launch editor-in-chief of ELLE and ELLE.com.au, where she has built a reputation for innovation and creativity, with covers that have garnered global attention such as the image of Nicole Trunfio breastfeeding, which took out the Publishers Australia award for Cover of the Year. Justine regularly hosts brand events, appears on television and as a speaker.

GENEVRA LEEK ASSOCIATE EDITOR

Genevra Leek is a journalist and editor based in Sydney. A graduate of Sydney’s university of Technology, Genevra started out her career in publishing in 2001 at Marie Claire, before leaving her position as fashion editor to pursue opportunities in London. First contributing to Red magazine, Genevra went on to take up the position of contributing fashion editor at Glamour. Upon her return to Sydney, the role of fashion news editor at InStyle was followed by a three-year post at Vogue Australia, first as fashion news editor then as fashion features editor, working across magazine and online. In 2013, she joined ELLE as fashion news director to help launch the international title in Australia. Genevra now travels the world covering international events while keeping close contact with the Australian market in her current position as associate editor.

JENNA CLARKE FEATURES DIRECTOR

Jenna Clarke heads up ELLE’s features content, bringing her wit, intelligence and nose for a story to the brand known internationally for its insightful mix. Jenna joined ELLE from The Sydney Morning Herald where she held the demanding position of National Fashion Editor, a breaking news reporter and regular columnist. Jenna has also held senior editorial roles including Lifestyle Editor at The Sydney Morning Herald and Digital Entertainment Editor for Fairfax nationally. Generally regarded as one of Australia’s must-read journalists, Jenna consistently delivers on engaging content across all platforms that resonates with women today.

RACHEL WAYMAN FASHION DIRECTOR

One of Australia’s most sought-after stylists, Rachel Wayman worked as fashion director of Madison and SHOP, and contributing fashion editor at Sunday Style, after beginning her career as market editor for Marie Claire. With a thorough knowledge of the local industry and a focused global eye, Rachel directs fashion stories both here and overseas, working closely with top international photographers, celebrities and models. Her vision and style have shaped the fashion pages of ELLE Australia and her dedicated mentoring continues to inspire her team.

AMY STARR BEAUTY AND LIFESTYLE DIRECTOR

As one of the industry’s most respected writers and stylists, Amy Starr has been reporting on beauty and lifestyle trends for more than 10 years. In addition to the in-depth knowledge she brings to the ELLE pages, she has extensive experience hosting live events and multi-platform media. In 2013, Amy joined ELLE as part of the title’s launch in Australia. She splits her time between testing and writing about the latest innovations in beauty and homewares, as well as photographing the spaces of some of Australia’s most talented creatives.
