Programme Guide

Conference 18:Digital Growth

explore the future

On behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council and East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire), we are delighted to welcome you to this year’s Digital Growth Conference delivered in partnership with Better Broadband for Nottinghamshire. We hope you have an enjoyable and informative day.

Bringing together some of the UK’s leading authorities in digital marketing and emerging technologies, the Conference agenda has been developed to highlight how the digital landscape is changing. It will provide you with the chance to develop your understanding of new technology and latest solutions in an environment designed to inspire new ways of working, helping you to make the most of digital technology.

The Digital Growth Programme (formally known as eBusiness Club) has been delivering digital technology workshops, supporting SMEs across the East Midlands since 2003.

The programme so far has engaged with more than 1,000 SMEs across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, whilst over £2.2 million of grant projects are being delivered to help SMEs utilise new technology within their business to increase productivity – nearly £1 million of these projects are being delivered within Nottinghamshire alone.

Today will provide you with key insights on what to look out for and how you can maximise digital technology within your business. You will hear from industry practitioners who are experts within their fields, providing you with the latest insights in digital technology from What’s New in Social, What’s New in Search, as well as a glance into affordable targeted marketing with SKY TV. You will hear also from Nottingham-based business Thorntons Ferrero who will explain how they have expanded their business through the use of technology with the support of the programme.

Make the most of the programme resources and book your place on our workshops, which are fully-funded. If you haven’t yet applied for a grant, speak to one of our advisers on how you can take advantage of this unique support. D2N2 Growth Hub and the Chamber are also on hand to assist with any queries relating to business support you may require.

We would be grateful if you could complete the feedback form so we can improve and develop our next digital Conference. A date will be announced soon so please let us know on the form if you would like to reserve your place.

Finally, we would like to encourage you all to really get into the spirit of the day by following us on Twitter at either @ebizclub or @EMChamberNews and tweeting about your experiences today, using the hashtag #DGPConf18.

Enjoy your day!

Welcome

Diane BeresfordDeputy Chief Executive East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire)

The Better Broadband for Nottinghamshire Programme is a multi-million pound partnership between Nottinghamshire County Council and a range of funding partners, transforming broadband speeds across the county.

It was set up to take advantage of the government’s Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) initiative, which provides funding to help councils improve broadband access where it is currently lacking, and needs will not be met by the private sector.

So far over £20 million has been invested in upgrading the county’s telecommunications infrastructure, with thousands of miles of fibre cabling deployed and hundreds of new fibre broadband cabinets installed in towns and villages across Nottinghamshire.

Benefits of fibre broadband include faster download and upload speeds; the ability to access the internet via multiple devices without a slower connection, faster downloads of films and music, a better online gaming experience, improved file sharing for businesses, solutions based on Cloud computing and being able to work more flexibly.

Take action! Are you connected to a superfast service? Upgrades are not automatic so to ensure you benefit, contact your current supplier and ask to upgrade to fibre or check a price comparison website to find the best deal.
