• As a guide, the camera should be moved about 1/40 of the dis-tance between the camera and the subject. For example, if thesubject is 3m away, the distance the camera should be movedwill be 3m × 40=7.5cm.

However, as the way people see three-dimensional images dif-fers from person to person, there is no need to be too con-cerned. Refer to the table below for a simple guide to how far tomove the camera.

Distance to subject 0.1 m 0.3 m 0.5 m 1 m 3 m 5m

Camera movement 0.5 cm 1 cm 1.5 cm 2.5 cm 7.5 cm 13 cm

● Viewing 3D pictures by the parallel method and crossmethod

As our eyes are positioned about 6~7cm apart, there is a veryslight deviation between what we see with our right eye and whatwe see with our left eye. The difference is processed by our brainto produce a three-dimensional image. This principle is applied totaking and viewing 3D pictures.3D pictures can be viewed by the parallel method where the leftand right lines of vision are virtually parallel, as when looking at adistant scene, or the cross method where the left and right lines ofvision are crossed, as when you cross your eyes. A certainamount of practice may be necessary to view 3D pictures withoutusing the viewer.

● How to Assemble the 3D Image Viewer

Assemble the 3D image viewer supplied with the camera asshown below.

● How to view 3D pictures using the 3D image viewer

Print out the pictures so that they are about 11cm or 12cm wideand place the divider of the 3D image viewer in the middle of thetwo.

Viewing the images with a PC or Macintosh p.82 or p.101

• As the distance between the left and right eyes differs from per-son to person, some people may have difficulty obtaining athree-dimensional effect even when looking at prints that arethe same size. It may be especially difficult if the pictures arevery large or very small. Try different sizes until the right effectis achieved.

• Never look at the sun through the 3D image viewer.• Do not leave the 3D image viewer where it is exposed to

direct sunlight as this may lead to fire.
