Parents can listen in to the baby's breathing and cries to gauge the situation, without having to be in the same room. Compared to analog, digital monitors offer superior sound quality and vision quality (for ones with video monitors). Yet, on the downside, some parents worry about electromagnetic radiation emanating from the monitors. Even though there has been no scientific evidence to support this claim, some view it as an unnecessary risk or feel the monitor should be placed far from the infant. Also, the digital monitors are higher in price, which may not make them suitable for every family. There are many good, digital infant monitors from which to choose. The Philips DECT baby monitor gets the highest reviews for sound clarity and offers special features, like parent-to-baby intercom functionality, alert lights, room temperature gauges, a night-light and soothing lullabies. The Summer Infant baby monitor offers video, night-vision, sound-alert lights and zoom and pan functionality. The Secure Sounds infant monitor Summer brand has also received positive reviews for limited interference and its stylish, contemporary design. The new Digitally Fresh digital baby monitor comes with a 1.5-inch color LCD baby monitor screen, a walkie-talkie/receiver and a security camera. The Graco baby monitor, called the "iMonitor," has multi-child monitoring features, an estimated 2,000-ft range, night vision and zoom. Mobi sells systems with unlimited receivers, wide camera angles, zoom, voice-activated video transmission and high-resolution screens. These high-end models run between 0 and 0. Parents who are really concerned about security should consider a digital baby monitor, rather than analog. With analog it's possible that neighbors who are also using the same baby monitor system will be able to hear your infant's coos and cries. It's not that your baby is likely to be endangered by this, but that sort of invasion of privacy is creepy and disconcerting to a number of parents. Secondly, you should consider a digital baby monitor if you live in a busy neighborhood where a lot is going on. Cordless phones, TV signals, wireless internet signals, radio broadcasts, microwaves and even passing traffic can all cause excessive amounts of static to come through your monitor, which will make the whole system more trouble than it's worth. It's not hard to pay a lot for your digital baby monitor, so you'll need to spend a little time considering which features you really need and which ones you can live without. Most parents just want a basic, baby monitoring system that provides clear reception, has mobile handsets and picks up the sounds of the baby. Once you've had a basic system for a while, you may decide you'd like some special features, such as multiple handsets, talk-back/intercom functionality or lights-only mode. If you're a paranoid parent, then you may need to know the temperature and humidity levels of the baby's room or when your baby is moving around. You may even decide that actually seeing what your baby is up to on video monitors can be part of the joys of parenthood. nikita:March 11, 2012 at 9:00 amAnybody have this monitor WIRELESS DIGITAL BABY MONITOR 2.5 LCDCONSIDERETE?This is the one that looks like a little green apple, so of course I want to buy one but are they anygood? They keep coming up on chinese bulk buy websites, so a bit worried that they just look cutebut are actually rubbish!Reply

Benniemore:May 23, 2012 at 7:25 amHi Nikita,Can I first make it clear that I do not have this monitor but can share a bit of information onbaby monitors. Most if not all baby monitors combines the use of camera and audiothrough use of sensors. What is important is safety and security of the baby and of coursethe parent’s peace of mind. You want a monitor that gives a clear image and sound. You also want to be able to doother things in the house, so you need freedom to walk about knowing that you can seeand hear your baby every moment. You are worried that they just look cute but could be rubbish. Again my advise here wouldbe to go with a product that has a good reputation, in that way you can rest assured thatyou will get full benefits of the product or if anything goes wrong you will be covered. Ofcourse you want a durable product. For more information visit lindamvideomonitor.co.ukI hope this will help,BenniemoreReply

sdubbs:March 24, 2012 at 11:22 pmwhich baby listening monitor do you use?I have a BT digital monitor 150 which I am returning to mothercare this week as all I hearis hissing and can’t hear my baby breathing (which it states I should be able to do!)I just wondered what monitors people would recommend instead?ThanksReply

Andrienne:April 14, 2012 at 9:28 pmI have the Tommee Tippee Monitor 6 with Sensor Mat. It was £54.99 and worthevery pennyThe main unit has a soft glow light and a switch underneath with two settings. Low andhigh sensitivity (I use low for the moses basket and high for the cot)There’s also a switch for the alarm to be on or offPortable monitor:(1) There are 2 channels on the portable monitor to reduce interference(2) Volume Control(3) A button to switch on or off for the “sound seek” feature to minimise background noise. You cannot hear baby breathing but can hear a pulse like sound every few seconds toreassure you that the sensor mat is detecting the baby’s breathing movements. The movement sensor mat under the mattress sounds an alarm after 20 seconds if nomovement from the baby is detected. It is the best thing I have ever purchased for my baby and gives complete peace of mindwhen baby is sleeping.Reply

Katy:March 25, 2012 at 5:55 pmGraco iMonitor Pure Digital Baby Monitor?Has anyone else had troubles with this monitor? Here is a link to it ………http://www.walmart.com/catalog/allReviews.do?product_id=4433233I have this one and it worked great for about 3 weeks and now its started acting up, looses signalseveral times a day — until i go and turn the base off and then on again. My room and my babysroom are only about 10-12 feet apart so there should not be a problem with it conection with thebase. Any one else had a problem with these monitors? I also have some static with it, however itsmuch better than the last monitor I tried. Any suggestions as to what a good monitor is? I am goingto be moving into new house and our rooms will be further apart and i need a good monitor. Thanks!

k:April 21, 2012 at 12:50 pmI have the same type but there is two, one for room #1 and then room # 2 butit’s the same as yours and at first I had trouble too and I was losing signal. Ihad to reset the signal to but what I ended up doing is turning them OFF and then leavingthem on the charger and let them charge for 24 hours then turned them back on and Ihave not had a problem since. Hope this helps. I know going 24 hours without themsucks but I love the monitors now. Good luck!Reply

¢σияα∂'ѕ мσммα [ℓєαн]:March 25, 2012 at 6:33 pmbest baby monitor out there?i’m finally going to try and get my son to sleep in his own room soon, even though imreally nervous about it. i don’t want to do that until i get a really good baby monitor though. i had twoin mind… either the safety 1st high-def digital monitor or the summer infant day and night handheldcolor video monitor. they got pretty good reviews so those are the ones im looking at. does anyonehave any other recommendations or comments?Reply

Mommylh:May 10, 2012 at 7:26 pmHonestly, you don’t need a video monitor. The best one out there is the AngelCare Movement and Sounds monitor. It is about $100 and has a sensor padunder the crib mattress that senses for movement. We have used that one since our sonwas 4 weeks old! It let me sleep better because I knew that if something were to happen,we would be alerted by the monitor (it senses for breathing). In addition, I alwayspreferred going into his room to check on him too (with the monitor on)…I liked watchinghim in person rather than through a monitor. Trust me, I was freaked that somethingwould happen, and this monitor totally helped!Best of luck!EDIT: I agree with the other poster here, it is useless to see the baby, and there is noneed to get to a baby before he/she starts to cry. There are many times when my son willmove around (I can hear it through the monitor) and will even make sounds/cry a little inhis sleep and then 30-60seconds later be back to sleep. If you always run in there atevery move, you will end up disturbing their sleep and actually waking them up when theyare actually not awake. There are times when you need to let them “fuss” (I didn’t say cry itout) for a few min so that they can learn to go back to sleep on their own. My son is 10months, and has been sleeping through the night since he was 8 weeks old. (With smallinterruptions while he was teething…he has 8 teeth and the top 4 came all at the sametime). He will now sooth himself back to sleep if he wakes up…sometimes with hisaquarium, sometimes his soother…sometimes he even sits up and plays around andthen goes back to sleep…plus…when you are sleeping you can’t look at a video monitoranyway…Reply

Anonymous:April 30, 2012 at 10:08 pmI love the Sony sound sensor baby call. It’s voice activated so you don’t hear thestatic. You do have the choice of listening to everything though. I bought asecond one for my 3 yr olds room since I can’t hear her if she calls out. They are only$35.00 at Target, great buy.Reply

hellokitty85:April 15, 2012 at 9:41 pmquestion about Summer Infant Baby Touch Digital Color Video Monitor…?http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Touch-Digital-Monitor/dp/B004B762AK/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1326155583&sr=1-1Does anyone know if it’s possible to use the camera plugged in the whole time – I guess oncharging mode, (since it’s wireless) I don’t like recharging batteries every time for the camera unit.Reply

Anonymous:April 17, 2012 at 2:49 amI had a different model but I did have a summer infant video monitor…not digitalor colored though (7years ago). The battery after awhile wouldn’t take a fullcharge anyways…think that is common for most batteries. So I’d say (even without havingthat particular model) definitely yes. The maker would expect you to plug it in when you goto bed at night…can’t take the chance of it dying while you sleep. You should be able touse it while it’s plugged in =)Reply

pascal:April 18, 2012 at 5:37 pmCan anyone recommend a good baby monitor and how much better are the digital ones?Is it also worth getting one with a sensor mat included, or one of the video ones? Ourbaby is due in May and we would like some opinions on which ones are considered the best )Reply

Tiffany:May 3, 2012 at 8:50 pmI have not used one but I have a few friends who did. They loved them and itgave them so much peace of mind. I was always paranoid about our son andSIDS so I plan on buying one when we have our next baby. I would also reccomend avideo monitor. Those are two things that would’ve have really eased my mind but were outof our budget. One thing to keep in mind….my friends did mention that once baby started to roll andmove a bit in their sleep there were times they shifted off the pad and it alarmed. You can read user reviews from people who have them on Amazon — here is the link.Almost every review is positive.http://www.amazon.com/B%C3%A9b%C3%A9Sounds-Angelcare-Movement-Monitor-Parents/dp/B0000E262S/ref=sr_1_1/104-9895424-4789500?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1182960476&sr=8-1Reply

What are thefeatures of say digital vs sound only? I definitely do not need the screen monitor. Just curious aboutthe ones that say vibrate, digital, sound only, etc.And What Brand do you recommend?? Thanks in advance 10 points Reply

ღ My baby girl is almost 2! ღ:May 4, 2012 at 9:58 amPersonally I went with a Fisher Price Private Connection monitor. I chose thatone because before and while I was pregnant I was a nanny and that is whatthe family used. I liked it so much because when the little boy was in bed I could hear himBREATHING and the monitor receiver was on the other side of his room. That was withthe fan on too. That is why I chose it for my daughter. Sometimes you do get a little staticbut that isn’t anything to be expected honestly.Reply

May 4, 2012 at 11:21 amMy wireless router is not working at home. I just bought a digital baby monitor. Could thatbe the reason? The wireless router is in the office and is wirelessly connected to our desktop computer, twolaptops, and the Tivo series 2. The digital baby monitor is in the nursery, about 25 feet (and twowalls) from the router. The router is a Linksys router, and sits on the floor next to my Comcast cablemodem. Because the wireless router is not working, we have no internet connection, nor can wewatch TV (through our TV) We’ve called Comcast multiple times but they tell us its our router. We’regetting to the end of our rope!Reply

HeAtHeN:May 12, 2012 at 5:07 pmTry turning off the baby monitor. Then turn off power to all of the appliances inyour network (PC, modem, and router). Then turn on power to all of the networkappliances and turn on your computer. If you are able to surf the net without a problemthen it is the monitor. If it still doesn’t work, then plug the modem directly in to your tower(without the router) to see if you can surf. The baby monitor should have nothing to do withyour cable tv though as that the two are not related. You should find the problem bycompleting the above troubleshooting though.Reply

Q:May 8, 2012 at 1:29 pmnightly interference on the baby monitor?Every night at the same time there is loud interference on our analog baby monitor. Otherthan this we have no problems with it picking up neighbors etc. Even if we turn the volume all theway down, we can still hear peoples garbled talking as if it were turned all the way up. There arepauses, like it is an actual conversation, but we cannot make out anything specific. It happens onboth channels. We tried digital monitors but it was constantly losing signal with its base, causingthe alarm to go off, no matter what we did. And that was the expensive one. (We tried two differentones)Any ideas, suggestions?Reply
