Your flag officers join me in extending a most warm welcome to all members - old and new*

Many unusual events have been planned by the Entertainment Committee to insure a happy summer*

The young people come into a large share of planned activities brought about through the efforts of the officers, trustees and various committee chairmen* Available is a particularly fine sailing and swimming program with excellent instructors, along with a full social calendar planned for their enjoyment*

A full sailing schedule and power boat program promise exciting results and should prove to be of great interest to everyone*

As in the past, we extend our sincere thanks to our advertisers for their kind support and extend to them a most cordial invitation to visit our club*

The successful culmination of the work of the various committees can only be brought about with the usual support and cooperation of all members. Be a real part of your club - help in its growth - enjoy growing with it*

Sincerely,

BRIDGEBridge night again this year will be each Wednesday of the summer season

beginning with the first get-together on June 26. All members of the club are welcome to join this group. A member may, if he so desires, invite a norwaember of the club to complete his partnership.

The more ardent enthusiasts of the game will play the duplicate boards. This will be competitive bridge. Scores will be kept for a series of six sessions. Appropriate prizes will be awarded the winners at the end of the season. By next year we hope to have a duplicate team ready to challenge teams from neighboring yacht clubs.

Whether your system is that of Goren, Culbertson, the Italians, or maybe your own, won't you come out and join us for an evening of fun and relaxation.

See you all at the Club on Wednesday nights at 8:15.

WOMEN'S AUXILIARYA most cordial invitation is extended to all women members of the club to

join our meetings which are held the last Tuesday of June, July and August. Everyone is informed of the time of the meeting. Each woman member of the club is automatically a member of the Auxiliary and is more than welcome to join our meetings and activities.

The 19 6 3 season began delightfully with our annual luncheon, card party and fashions (by John Wanaraaker), this year held at the Warwick Hotel in Philadelphia. This was truly a lovely way to start the season. Further plans for the summer include equally exciting events, among them being our traditional July fashion show, a card party in August as well as an all-day bazaar in August.

Our youngsters are not overlooked by the Auxiliary, as they sponsor the Junior Junior and the Junior Intermediate groups, whose full schedule of events is listed on another page. A vital part of the Junior Intermediate group is the coveted "Best Citizen11 award* The recipients (boy and girl) are selected from their group by secret ballot, and have proved to be true "best citizens".

Wednesday night bridge is another project of the Auxiliary, further details of which are printed elsewhere in this book.

Listed below are the names of the committee chairmen. You might decide where your talents might best be used (don’t keep them hidden) and contact the chairman of the committee in which you have an interest. There is a spot for everyone. We need everyone. Let us hear from you.

Have a happy summer.

Every effort is made to keep Avalon free from the hustle and bustle found in so many of the other vacation spots. You may rest or play in healthful, uncrowded surroundings, either basking in the bright sunlight or sleeping where cool, salt-laden breezes keep your thoughts far away from the torrid heat of nearby cities.
