Finding your Design Style

Everyone has specific designing styles that they tend to use most frequently

How do you find your signature design style?

By searching other designers work and seeing what you are drawn to

most

• There is no right or wrong design style, it is simply a matter of personal preference• Your signature design style can be a mixture of many different styles

• Your page layout is often influenced by the photo’s and determines the style usedYour signature style is what you use

most frequently

Your Homework

Find your signature design and create a page layout reflecting your design

style through a process called “scraplifting.”

What is scraplifting?• Scraplifting is simply “borrowing” a page layout

idea from another designer and creating it for yourself• When scraplifting, be sure to give credit to the original designer when you share it with others. “I saw this layout by Jill Means and thought it would be fun to use for my daughters b-day party”• Scraplifting is a great way to start with someone else’s idea and see where it leads you!

How do I scraplift with Heritage Makers?Step 1: Find a design layout that you love!

Step 2: Open up the preview in a window that you can see while in the Heritage Makers design studio

Step 4: Make any changes that you would like to customize it to your personal preference

Step 3: Start with the background paper and work your way up through the layers. Copy the embellishments as closely as possible including drop shadows and effects

Go to www.scrapbook.com • Create an account• Go to “Gallery” then “digital layouts”• Search through digital layouts and save pages

that you like to your “favorites.
