Qatar Digital Government

Ministries across the government have joined together to make this vision a reality.

With a focus on the people of Qatar, this nationwide effort is accelerating Digital

Government initiatives that make the government more efficient, effective, and

accessible to the people it serves.

All over the world, governments are providing more and more information and ser-

vices online as well as automating their own processes to provide value to custom-

ers, help spur economic development, and create more interactive relationships

with the people they serve. As Digital Government efforts expand, the demand

for more user-friendly, ‘anytime, anywhere’ access to government and its services

continues to increase.

Thus, building on the progress made in e-Government over the past decade, Qatar

Digital Government 2020 Strategy, released in May 2014, provides the blueprint

for moving forward. A government-wide Steering Committee, spearheaded by

the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ictQATAR), de-

veloped the strategy and oversees its implementation. This nationwide effort is

supported by H.E. Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani,

who has made Qatar Digital Government one of his main priorities.

The program’s progress is assessed and monitored via quarterly reports done by

the Steering Committee and reported to the Council of Ministers and through

other assessments tools including using major international benchmarks.
