DIGESTIVE SYSTEMFROM CELLS TO
ORGANISM
Cell Tissue
Stomach
System
Organism
Function: Break down the food we eat into smaller parts so the body can use them to build and nourish cells and provide energy
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Digestive System - Cells Parietal Cells They are the stomach epithelium cells
that secrete gastric acid and intrinsic factor
Digestive System - Cells Chief Cell Cell which releases a precursor enzyme –
blocks activity are activated by acid to remove the inhibiting portion
Digestive System - Tissue Epithelial Tissue – Epithelial tissue serve as membranes
lining organs and helping to keep the body's organs separate, in place and protected.
Found in the inside of the mouth and stomach
Digestive System - Tissue Muscle Tissue – Muscle tissue is a specialized tissue that
can contract Examples of muscle tissue are contained
in the muscles throughout your body - Stomach
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM (MOUTH)
Function:Digestion starts here. Chewing breaks the food into pieces that are more easily digested, while saliva mixes with food to begin the process of breaking it down.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM (GULLET)
Function:Allow the partially digested food from the mouth to travel to the stomach
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM (STOMACH)
Function:Glands produce gastric acid, another digestive juice. This helps to break the food down into simpler substances.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM (SMALL INTESTINE)
Function:Digestion is completed in the small intestine. The resulting nutrients produced are absorbed through the lining of the small intestine and transferred to the bloodstream.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM (LARGE INTESTINE)
Function:The large intestine absorbs water and certain vitamins from the undigested food and stores waste before it is eliminated.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM (RECTUM)
Function:The main function of the rectum is to act as a temporary storage site for fecal matter before it is eliminated from the body through the anus.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM (ANUS)
Function:The place where undigested food is passed out

• We will be passing the poster around the class for you guys to take a closer look. =D
Product Demonstration• At the same time, the rest of you can
take a look at the Prezi that we have created.
• This is to sum up what we have learnt for today.
