    Increase Jan 1 to Sep 1 + 4,212

    Balance Sep 1 $20,696

    Goal for Dec 31 $25,000

    Needed by December 31 4,304

Please help us meet the goal for 2012. If you are required to withdraw funds from your IRA

account at year end or if you are a member who is selling a stock that has grown in value this

year, consider taking advantage of IRS tax laws which may allow you to take a full tax

deduction versus paying taxes on the growth amount.

Thank you to all who have turned in their2013 pledge cards. Plans for the ministry of ourchurch for the coming year are based on these pledges.

If you have not turned in your pledge card and would like to commit to the work and outreach

of our church, please do so by putting it in the offering plate or giving it to the church office.

As of December 19 we have received 87 pledges totaling $224,072.

Each year on the Sunday before Christmas, Presbyterian congregations express pro-found appreciation for our clergy and other servants of the Church by receiving the ChristmasJoy Offering. We honor our church leaders both for their faithfulness in tending to our spiri-tual needs and in recognition of their decision, in many cases, to answer the call to ministry

rather than pursue a life of material comfort.

The Christmas Joy Offering provides a way to give thanks, and much-needed support, to

active and retired church workers and their families who are struggling with urgent financialneeds. Its a wonderful opportunity for those who have been blessed with the means to ex-

press their generosity and, at the same time, support important needs in the PC(USA) commu-nity.

A Presbyterian tradition for nearly 70 years, the Christmas Joy Offering gives vital fund-ing to the Assistance Program of the Board of Pensions as well as to Presbyterian-related ra-cial-ethnic schools and colleges. It is one of the four special offerings designated by thePC(USA) General Assembly to provide congregations direct ways to support those in need.

The Christmas Joy Offering will be collected on Sunday, December 23.

The annual garage sale is just around the corner in the Spring of 2013.It is time to start saving your treasures. Please note that we cannotaccept items at the church at this time due to limited storage space.

It is very helpful if you can price all of the items ahead of time. We will

not be collecting clothing, shoes, etc. Those items can be donated tolocal charities. All proceeds will go to support the 2013 Haiti MissionTeam.

Douglas Rogers gave his 12th annual classical guitar concert to benefit Haiti at DPC onSunday, December 2. He has asked that the offering of$507 be designated for the clean

drinking water projects. As always, the concert was exceptional. Our thanks to Douglas.

Confections for a Cause was a fantastic success. The auction raised approximately $2,600.

Thank you to all those who donated items for the silent auction and to those who participatedin the event. All proceeds go to the 2013 Haiti Mission Team Fund.

Are you wondering what to purchase that friend or family member who has everything? Con-sider making a contribution to one or more of the Haiti projects in honor of your loved

one. You can make your donation and receive a gift card to give or send to the person you arehonoring. The card has photographs of the Haiti projects and a description of the work beingdone in Haiti through Bruce and Deb Robinson. Please see Dale Pennell to make donationsand obtain cards.

The next Women of FaithBible study begins January 14, 2013.

James, Jesus' own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one

glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple.Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways,James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any other NewTestament book. Topics in this study include: joy, hardship, faith, rever-sal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer.

If you are new to our Womens Bible Studies or new to Denbigh Presbyterian

Church, we hope you will join us. We laugh a lot, cry at times, lean on each other

often, fellowship, and really enjoy being in Gods Word together. Our video

leader, Beth Moore, will constantly challenge us to think differently about our

own daily walk with God and to search further into this faithful jour-

ney. Through her infectious energy and well-researched points of view, we will

discover paths that we might never have taken before. Childcare will be avail-

    able.

    Ladies, beginningJanuary 14, 2013,

    please join us each

    Monday evening

    from 6:30-8:30 PM

    for this 8-week study
