Fuenteovejuna is based on Lope de Vega’s17th-century play of the same name, inwhich the inhabitants of the titularAndalusian village rebel against thetyranny of a local feudal lord. AntonioGades (1936-2004) was renowned forbeing a master of flamenco dance and hewon critical acclaim for his 1994interpretation which features a widevariety of vibrant folk dance styles.

Art Corale is without doubt one of the best choirs in the world. They revive and conservethe tradition of choral singing with such smoothness and perfect pitch, they leave aperennial impression on their audience. All choir members have graduated from theMoscow Conservatory and the Russian Academy of Music. Following many tours in theirRussian homeland, the choir made their first overseas performance in Germany in 1992.Their popularity has continued to grow with audiences ranging from 500 to 1000 at eachchurch venue. One of their greatest landmarks was playing to over 2000 people at theAthens Acropolis Amphitheatre in 1996. Since then they have toured throughout Europeand the USA and have just completed their 2nd CD last year.

For one week in June Art Corale are performing at various venues across the island.

Art Corale es sin lugar a dudas uno de los mejores coros en el mundo. Ellos reviven yconservan la tradición del canto coral como la suavidad y un tono perfecto; dejan unaimpresión perenne en su público. Todos los miembros del coro se graduaron en elConservatorio de Moscú y en la Academia de Música de Rusia. Hicieron muchos tours ensu Rusia natal, e hicieron su primera actuación fuera en Alemania en 1992. Su popularidadha continuado creciendo con sus actuaciones desde unas 500 a unas 1000 iglesias. Unade sus actuaciones más famosas fue delante de unas 2000 personas en el anfiteatro dela acrópolis de Atenas en 1996. Desde entonces han estado de tour por Europa y EstadosUnidos y acaban de terminar su 2º CD.

En junio Art Corale actuará durante una semana en varios lugares por toda la isla.

Following the sell-out success of the firstevent in April, Jellyfish events are flying intwo more top names from the current UKcomedy circuit, Mark Maier and SteveGribbin, to entertain you with live stand-upfor the evening. Local celebrity Richie Clarkwill again host the evening with his ownbrand of wit & humor, concluding theproceedings as DJ with a selection of all timeclassic sounds from the 80´s, 90´s and more.

Mark Maier is a multi award winning writer and comic who is highly sought after on boththe national and international comedy circuits. He has played across the world, includingthe Comedy Store in Los Angeles and Caroline’s in New York. “It’s high time someonegave him a TV show of his own” The Guardian.

Steve Gribbin is a diminutive guitar-wielding satirist from Liverpool whose scabrouscomedy songs and off the wall observations have made him one of the firm favourites ofthe comedy circuit. His original comedy songs combine razor sharp lyrics with tunes thatput their foot in the door of your mind and refuse to leave.
