    Common uses

Detergent bottles, milk jugs, shampoo bottles,

butter and yogurt tubs. Lowest risk of leaching,

least toxic, no known health hazards.

Dry-cleaning bags, produce and grocery bags,

trash can liners, food storage containers, most

plastic wraps. No known health hazards.

2-liter soda bottles, cooking oil bottles, peanut

butter jars, detergent bottles. Most common for

single-use bottled beverages, such as water or

juice. Low risk of leaching and health hazards

    unless used more than once.

    Plastic pipes, outdoor furniture, shrink-wrap,

water bottles, salad dressing bottles, window

cleaner and liquid detergent containers. Contains

chlorine, can release dangerous dioxins and

phthalates. Never burn PVC plastic, as burning

    will release toxins.

Bottle caps, drinking straws, some baby bottles.

Has a higher melting point so is used for

containers that come in contact with hot liquid.

No known health hazards. Produce Bags, Food

    Storage Containers.reusable containers of

LDPE is widely used for manufacturing various containers, dispensingbottles, wash bottles, tubing, plastic bags for computer components,

and various molded laboratory equipment. Its most common use is in

plastic bags.plastic wraps ,Six pack rigs.Plastic bags, magazine

PVC is used in construction because it is more effective than

traditional materials such as copper, iron or wood in pipe and profile

applications. It can be made softer and more flexible by the addition of

plasticizers, the most widely used being phthalates. In this form, it is

also used in clothing and upholstery, electrical cable insulation,

inflatable products and many applications in which it replaces

    rubber.[5]

thermoplastic polymer used in a wide variety of applications including

packaging and labeling, textiles (e.g., ropes, thermal underwear and

carpets), stationery, plastic parts and reusable containers of various

types, laboratory equipment, loudspeakers, automotive components,

and polymer banknotes. An addition polymer made from the monomer

propylene, it is rugged and unusually resistant to many chemical

    solvents, bases and acids.

drain-waste-vent (DWV) pipe systems, musical instruments

(recorders, plastic clarinets, and piano movements), golf club heads

(due to its good shock absorbance), automotive trim components,

automotive bumper bars, medical devices for blood access, enclosures

for electrical and electronic assemblies, protective headgear,

whitewater canoes, buffer edging for furniture and joinery panels,

luggage and protective carrying cases, small kitchen appliances, and toys, including Lego bricks.

    [9]

Uses include protective packaging (such as packing peanuts and CD

and DVD cases), containers (such as "clamshells"), lids, bottles, trays,

    tumblers, and disposable cutlery.[5]

bottles are exposed to fluorine gas in a secondary operation, are similar

in appearance to HDPE and have exceptional barrier properties to

hydrocarbons and aromatic solvents. Fluorine treated bottles are

excellent for use with insecticides, pesticides, herbicides, photographic

chemicals, agricultural chemicals, household and industrial cleaners,

electronic chemicals, medical cleaners and solvents, citrus products, d-

limone, flavors, fragrances, essential oils, surfactants, polishes,

additives, graffiti cleaning products, pre-emergents, stone and tile care

products, waxes, paint thinner, gasoline, biodiesel, xylene, acetone,

    kerosene and more.

the safest plastics for repeated use in storing

food are made from high-density polyethylene

(HDPE, or plastic #2), low-density polyethylene

(LDPE, or plastic #4) and polypropylene (PP, or

plastic #5). Most Tupperware products are made

    of LDPE or PP,
