Welcome to St. Charles Ave. Presbyterian Church. To prepare your hearts and minds for worship, consider the following quote from Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s, Life Together. “Therefore, let him who until now has had the privilege of living a common Christian life with other Christians praise God’s grace from the bottom of his heart. Let him thank God on his knees and declare: It is grace, nothing but grace, that we are allowed to live in community with Christian brethren.”

prayers. Everyone around was in awe—all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person’s need was met. They followed a daily discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant and joyful,

as they praised God. People in general liked what they saw. Every day their number grew as God added those who were saved.”

Children in Worship - At times, it is difficult for any young child to sit through a worship service. Any usher can provide you with a children’s bulletin and activity pack to help your child and you better enjoy the service, as well as a handout with general information for families on Sunday morning.

Recent sermon transcripts are in the Narthex Racks. Video and audio copies of recent sermons and bulletins are available on our website at www.scapc.org/sermons. For an older sermon transcript, or if you know of a homebound member who would like to receive copies by mail, contact Emily Fleshman at [email protected].

The Challenge of CharityOurs is a church that dedicates our time, talents, and resources to important work for the less fortunate in the New Orleans community. But how do we, as Christians, really discern our call to serve those around us? Using the provocative thoughts of Robert Lupton’s Toxic Charity and the text of Matthew 25: 31-40, this class will use real-life situations to explore our approaches to service and charity.Led by Robert Edgecombe | through November 23 | Phifer Library

Who Wrote the Bible? This book by Richard E. Friedman is a fascinating, intellectual, yet highly readable analysis and investigation into the authorship of the Old Testament. Friedman delves deeply into the history of the Bible in a scholarly work that is as exciting and surprising as it is a good detective novel.Led by: Maureen Herring | through December 7 | Land Building, Lakeside
