Dietary Management (MDIET) Fast Facts About the Program Type: Technical Degree/Certificate: Marketable Skills Achievement Award Duration: Two terms Program Information The San Jacinto College dietary management program is approved by the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP). The program includes two semesters of classroom instruction, and 150 hours of hands-on practice in nutrition and foodservice management. Upon completion of the program, students qualify to take the CDM, CFPP certification exam. Certified dietary managers and certified food protection professionals (CDM, CFPPs) are nationally recognized experts at managing dietary operations. Many work in health care— nursing facilities, rehab facilities, senior living communities, or hospitals. Some also work in correctional facilities, schools, and the military. Others work for corporations. Certified dietary managers are trained and qualified to manage menus, food purchasing, and food preparation; and to apply nutrition principles, document nutrition information, ensure food safety, manage work teams, and more. Additional Information Students who successfully complete the two- term program will receive a certificate from San Jacinto College and may qualify to take the certification exam. Student membership in the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP) is encouraged, and professional membership is available after completion of the program. Certified dietary managers and certified food protection professionals (CDM, CFPP) have passed a nationally recognized credentialing exam offered by the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers.
