Firmin Didot originally created the font Didot. He was a punch cutter, publisher, type founder, printer, and author. The year 1783 was when Didot cut his first typefaces and reworked his father’s ro-man alphabets. He came from a family of dynamic designers, and they around for a good 100 years cross-ing over between the 18th and 19th centuries. They were all printers, inventors, publishers, typeface design-ers, and intellectuals.

Thanks to self kerning and modern uses of the kerning tool, making a headline font is much easier to do. Kerning can either help or hurt a design. But if it is used cor-rectly then it should be very easy help bring together an ad. In this case, Didot is used as the typeface for the magazine Vogue. Why, because Didot

is looks elegant, and it has a romantic and sophisticated feel. We easily recognize the title and many recognize the font–in which is has always been used as the display font for Vogue magazine. Together, they go hand-in-hand–and if it was not kerned, it wouldn’t be as successful.
