standard for beauty and gives us clues throughout Scripture as to what defines a beautiful

woman.

1 Peter 3:3-4

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and wearing gold jewelry and fine clothing. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

Devaluing “Beauty”

As a culture, we call a lot of things beautiful.

In most cases we are talking about the prettiness or likeability of a person or thing.

But does that mean that it is beautiful?

Esther

Because of her outward beauty, Esther was capable of getting closer to the King.

Esther was taken as the queen against her will. She was chosen for her exceptional beauty, and yet it was actually what the king didn’t see that attracted him to her

So from the beginning of Esther’s involvement with the king, it is clear that he was attracted to a depth within her, and it is through this that she is ultimately able to maneuver what needs to be done to save her people.

God used Esther physical beauty as a tool to give Himself glory.
