1.2 General :

In the eastern part of rajasthan state spreading over in the area of about 3034

sq. Kms. This district is formed on 15.04.1982

1.3 Geographical Area:

Dholpur district formed 15 april 1982, dholpur (district) of rajasthan carved out

of bharatpur district. This extends from 26d 22m to 25d 70m north latitude

and from 76d 53m to 76d 17m east longitude. It is bounded on the north east

by agra district of uttar pradesh. On the south by morena (m.p.)district and on

the north of bharatpur district and on the west of karoli. The total area of

dholpur is 3034 sq. Kms.

1.5 Physiographic:

Range of sand stone hills runs from dholpur town in a south western direction

attaining at one place on attitude of 356.91 meters above sea level. The land in

dholpur district is fertile and rises from alluvial plain near the level. Hills and

broken grounds characterize almost the whole territory, along the velly of the

chambal as irregular and lofty wall of rocks separate. The land on the river

from the uplands.

1.6 Administrative Set Up:

For smooth functioning of administration the district has been divided into five

sub-division, six tehsils and five panchyat samitties. Details are given in the

table 1.1 there are three municipalities in the district. There are three town

and 826 revenue village in the district. Unhahited village are sixteen.

1.7 Climate And Rainfall:

The climate of dholpur district is generally dry. Dholpur town is one of the

hottest place in the rajasthan state with maximum temperature rising up to

50dc and the minimum upto 4dc. The average annual rain fall in the district is

about 67cm. While in the year 2008 it was recorded at 110cm.

1.8 Forest, Flora And Fauna:

During the year 1990-2000, 6.93% of the separating area of dholpur district

was covered under forest . The main species are dhok or dhao. The other trees

are arung, dhak, kachnar, babul etc.

The district also possesses two sanctuaries viz, van vihar and ram sagar which

are situated at a distance of about 18 kms from dholpur city. The animals

found in the area are jackal, deer, chinkaras, and sambhar etc.

Chapter – II

Resources human resources

2.1 Human Resources:

Population:

Human resources are the basic input for maintaning the existing and future

industrial development of an area. As per population census 2011 the total

population of the dholpur district is about 1206516 out of this 653647 were

male and remaining 552869 were female. The population density (as per 2011

census) in the district is 398 per. Sq. Km., as compared to 324 in 2001 and sex

ratio in the district is recorded as 846 females over each one thousand males.

Literacy:

As per estimates census 2011 the district has registered the literacy rate of

69.08% . The literacy rate among the male population is registered at 81.22%

where as for female it is recorded at 54.67% only.

Rural and urban population:

As per census 2011 the total population of dholpur district 12.06 lacs of which

9.59 lacs i.e. 82.08 % was recorded as rural population while the balance 2.47

lacs i.e. 17.92 % was the population residing in the urban areas.

2.2 Working Force And Occupatioal Pattern:

As per census 2011 the total working force in the district is estimated at 66.35

lacs representing 54.99% of total population . The occupational working force

Natural Resources:

2.3 Water And Irrigation Resources:

The availability of water and irrigation in dholpur district can be divided into

the following heads.

(A) important rivers/ lakes- inthe southeastern part of the district one

perennial river named as chambal is located. The second important

river is parvati, which has a angai dam of irrigation purpose at a

distance of 25 km from bari. Talabshahi lake & ram sagar dam are also

located in the district

(B) other irrigation facilities- as there is only one perennial river in the

district, the main sources of irrigation in the district are tube well/

In case of the overall irrigation facilities extended in the district is taken into

consideration it is found that during the year 2014-15 net irrigation area to the

sown area was estimated 75.50%.

Drinking water:

The water supply in the district is being performed by phed dholpur. The majo

supply of water by phed is being done from two sources viz, only perennial

river chamble and through wells. There are also about 33 scheme of phed for

the supply of water in rural and remote areas of distt. Its is reported that the

availability of water in the district has generally remained satisfactory except in

the year absurd mansoon.

2.4 Irrigation facilities-

As there is only one perennial river in the district, the main sources of irrigation

in the district are tube well/ wells canals etc. These source wise irrigation

facilities available in the district are given below.

The major crops of the district during the rabi season are wheat, barley and

gram, where as during kharif season bajra, maize, rice are the major crops. The

4.1.1 & 4.1.2 Veterinary Centre & Hospitals-

It is also important to mention here that district has developed adequate

number of veterinary hospitals dispensaries etc. Presently 21 veterinary

hospitals, 37 dispensaries and 58 number of artificial insemination centre are

available in the district, besides one diagnometric lab, one pathology lab, one

check post and one vigilance units. Mobile unit started in 6 tehsile, each having

1 unit.

5. Products of Animal Husbandary:

5.1 Availability 0f Dairy Products-

5.1.1 Milk:

The livestock population in the district is major. However breed of cows and

buffaloes is fairly good. In the district average milk production is 6 lacs liters

per day.

5.2 Wool Availability:

Sheep are reared in the district mainly for wool and meat. As per data available

from integrated sample survey report for estimation of major livestock based

products. Each sheep yields approximately 1.34 kg. Wool every year. Thus

there is the potentiality for only 15.00 tons of wool within the district per year.

5.3 Meat Availability:

Assuring on an average slaughter rate of 20% for both sheep and goats death

rate of the same as 0.30% and 9.20%respectively and the meat availability of

8.167kg and 9.274 kg per sheep and goats, the total availability of meat per

annum in the district is estimated at approximately 210.5 tones.

5.4 Leather Availability:

The district has a sufficient cattle population. The discussion with the district

official reveal that the morality rate could safely be assumed to be 10% and

availability of 25 sq. Ft. Of hide per animal which may contribute about 8 lacs

sq. Ft. Of hide in each year duration.

5.5 Bones:

As per the report "bones and binomial in india", the availability of bones per

animal can safely be assumed at 12 kg. On this basis the availability of bones in

dholpur district estimated at ground 536 tones per annum.

6. Geology & Minerals

There are 225 mines are located in the district.

The district does not have an important place in the state for the availability

point of view of mineral resources the details of major mineral resources found

7. Forest resources:

7.1 Areas: Total forest area of district is 27184 sq. hectare.

7.2 Resources:

Important forest produce available in dholpur district are grass, tendu patta,

gum and kattha. As such no major product is available in sizable quantity for

industrial purpose.

8. Tourism:

8.1 the dholpur district has a number of religious, historical and archaeological

places of importance in india tourist’s interest. Such place are like shergarh

fort, dholpur palace, chopra shiv mandir, chambal ghadiyal century, chambal

revine, machkund and talabshahi apart of one famous sanctuary at 25 km from

dholpur. The tourists visiting these are both from within the country and

foreigners.

Existing Infrastructural Facilities

Infrastructure facilities like power, communication, banking, education, health

etc. Play a vital role in the promotion and development of industries in any

area a brief account of such facilities available in dholpur district is being given

in the following paragraphs.

9.1 Power Resources

The existing power position of the district is just sufficient presently the district

is receiving the supply of power from hindaun and gwalior by way of

transmission .

Apart from the above defecated network the district also has 2 branches of co-

Dholpur district is an industrially backward district, formally it was a part of

bhartpur and at that time is could not draw much attention as regard to

industrial development of the area. As regard to resources the district does not

possess any major resources in abundance built on the other hand the

infrastructure facilities seems to the level of satisfaction in the area.

Small scale and cottage industries:

The number of units acknowledgment registered in dholpur district till 31st

march 2016 has registered at 1550 with direct employment to persons 8369

with capital investment of rs 22560.89 lacs. These units are mainly engaged in

the manufacturing of agricultural products like dal, oil, flour etc. Beside this a

some of the units are also engaged in the manufacture of metal products

(except machinery) bricks & lime stone, ferus and non-ferus casting, milk

products i.e. deshi ghee, milk powder, laundry soap a chemical based units

Would also be of worth to mention here that the development of cottage

village land artisan units also have an important place in the development

plans of the state as well as of the centre. Such units have been getting inputs

through incentives mainly in the from of subsidies from both the government

via, central and state and loans on some liberal terms from the institutions like

kvib, rfc and under various schemes of nabard and sidbi.

CHAPTER-V

14.1 Potential Industries and Other Contributory Factors:

As already mentioned the, dholpur district is considered to be one amongst the

industrial backward district of the state. As regard to the availability of

infrastructure facilities the district possess adequate facilities for the

development of the industrial sectors but if the availability of resources is

taken in to consideration the district is found lacking behind in this particulars

aspect. Still taking in consideration the strength of the district set up few

industries are being identified having good potential

14.2 Resoures;

The in time resources available in dholpur district related in the industria

development have already discussed in chapter ii of this report. The analysis of

available resources reveals that the district does not have the sufficient

concentration of important mineral resources. Bajra, wheat and barley are the

main crop product of dholpur. The district has livestock population of 5.91 lacs

consisting of 0.61 lacs cattle, 3.59 laces buffaloes and 0.89 lacs goats mils is in

available in the district in substantial quantity , beside milk the hide and bones

etc. Are also available in the district in sufficient quantity which maybe of good

industrial potential.

14.3 Infrastructure:

The infra- structure such as power, rail and road network communication etc.

Is adequate to counter to the present level of industrialization keeping in view

the demand of industrial plots in dholpur sub- division growth center has

development with 1300 industrial plots. However other social amenities like

education, medical & health facilities network of banks and other financial

institution etc are just sufficient.

14.4 Strategies Suggested:

To accelerate the rate of industrial growth in the district it is essential firstly to

give stress to the development and expansion of existing industrial areas along

with processing new industrial areas and location which have right prospects

for coming up of new industrial units and secondly to suggest the package of

viable and feasible new industrial ventures which have good prospects in the

district.

demand ofthe local as well as neighboring districts people the under suggested

strategy is drawn after detailed discussion with district existing industrialists

and trade association apart of consulting other related local offices in dholpur

These industries are market oriented and do not generally depend upon

resources available locally and in the surrounding nearby areas. Rather the

setting up of industries mainly depend upon the individuals choice and

convenience. Dholpur district being connected with good roads and railway

14.6 Proposed augmentation of industrial area:

Proposed expansion

Keeping in view the heavy demand for industrial plots and number of plots

already allotted in both the industrial area located at dholpur. It is proposed

hereby to further expand the following industrial areas.

Samathura industrial area:

Besides this area due to heavy demand of dholpur stone, three more industrial

areas at sarmathura could be development as stone quarries are locally

available.

Proposed new industrial areas:

A part of the proposed expansions of the above state two industrial areas at

dholpur it is also proposed to develop one more industrial area at national

highway no- 3 location. This additional industrial area in being suggested for

two reasons.

(1) There is no other suitable location except dholpur in the district for

augmentation of the industrial development and.

(2) as dholpur city is also well connected with other commercial and trading

cities of u.p. and m.p. like agra and gwalior and entrepreneurs from these

areas can be attracted for setting up their own venture locations and secondly

if the package of some extra incentive ( as compared to gwalior and agra) may

be given to them.

14.7 Strategy For Artisans/Handlom Weavers Upgradation:

In the state of rajasthan dholpur district has some tradition of handicrafts in

different avenue, the two major among them are manufacturing of aratari and

shoe. In rajasthan shoe making is being done by artisans of sagar para, mohalla

and old city, dholpur.

having the export potentials.

14.9 Suggestion:

It is proposed to organized few skill and technology upgradation programs

(stup) by industrial development bank india, ruda, simultaneously few skill

development short term training programs of micro, small & medium

enterprises development institutes (msme) would also remain beneficial for

the existing artisans for handicraft trade, these proposed programs will

certainly benefit the artisans by way of enhancement in their skills as well as

the quality of the products manufactured by them.

CHAPTER-VIII

Summary on the finding recommendation:

1. The administrative set up of the district six sub- divisions, six tehsils and

five panchayat samities.

2. The literacy rate in the district is good 69.08% compared to the states

average literacy rate i.e. 66.11 percent . About 83% of the total

population of the district resides in rural areas and agriculture is the

main occupation of its people.

3. The district possesses inadequate water and irrigation facilities in

general. But as concerned to industrial development, the district has

sufficient water for meeting out the need of the existing and emerging

industries.

4. The major crop produce of the district are wheat, rice, mustard, barley &

gram and hence a few agro based industries are suggested .

5. The district has a good population of livestock, and therefore, a few

livestock based industries are being suggested in the district.

6. The major minerals available in the district are sand stone, limestone,

bajri and masonry.

7. As regards to existing infrastructure facilities in the district , the main

lacunas is the inadequate rial and road linkages /connection of the

district with other towns of commercial and trading importance . There

is a need to supply more power in the district

8. As regards to existing industrial status the district is one amongst the

industrially backward districts of the state. As 31.03.2011 have four units

in medium and large scale sector. The total registered units in small

scale sector were 1550 as 31.03.2016 with employment for 8369

persons and capital investment of rs. 22560.89.

9. 50 different type of potential industrial units have been suggested at

different locations in the district.

10. presently there are seven industrial areas in existence in the district

located dholpur , bari , as on 31.03.2016 in this dholpur industrial area

100% plots have been allotted , while in growth centre dholpur

industrial area 80% plots were allotted , and in bari industrial area only

80% plots are allotted. New industrial area village vishnoda has

developed plots available for allotment 10% plots allotted recently.

11. keeping in view the lack of entrepreneurship skill among the people of

district it is proposed to organize one general edp at dholpur .

12. To accelerate the pace of industrial development in the district,

industrial promotion campaigns / camps are suggested for being

organized at dholpur , bari rajakhera and baseri. In such camps , the

active presence of all the involved state level agencies in the field of

industrial development would be desirable .

13. in order to development local artisans and to promote local handicraft

in the district a training and skill development program is suggested is

suggested to increase the expertise of these artisans, which in turn, will

certainly raise the quality of their and thus their average earnings will

increase .

14. considering fact rural artisans are scattered at different locations of the

District and it do not become possible to make them assemble at one

place, it is suggested that govt. Should provide a mobile training center

of providing training to such scattered artisans of the district.
