least two years, as there is so much to learn about the incredible organisation that we are privileged to be members of.

Thank you to all the clubs and individual Rotarians who made their donations to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) this year. Our goal of R850 000 has been exceeded – the latest figure I have received amounts to R927 000. This money becomes available to our Dis-trict in three years’ time in the form of District Grants.

Secretaries and Treasurers - attention pleaseFrom 1 July SA will no longer have a Fiscal Agent. Exchange rates for the paying of RI dues and TRF donations are established six business days prior to their effective date. RI will still display the rates on their web-site – but it gets there only after a delay of two to four days, depending on the USA holidays, weekends, etc.The link to the RI Website is : https://www.rotary.org/myrotary/en/exchange-rates

Are any of the following unknown deposits from your club? If so, please contact Metcalf Fick so that he can credit your club:· 8 November 2013 R2,000 – Polio plus – Reference “Polio campaign”· 4 December 2013 R8,000 – APF - Ref-erence “Annual giving/Paul Harris”· 30 May 2014 – R17,000 - Reference “Found. Club highlightsCongratulations to the Rotary Club of Am Kap on being awarded the RI Presidential Citation for 2013-14. This is for achieving the goals set out by RI President Ron Burton. Am Kap are currently planning on build-ing a pre-school in Hangberg, Hout Bay, at a cost of R4 million. They have already secured R3 million from clubs in Germany. Well done.

Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Beaufort West on being awarded the RI Significant Achievement Award for their club’s involvement with the Seniors Social Club for over 50 years. Only one club per District may receive this annual prestigious award.

The Rotary Club of Cape Town will host its Adventure into Citizenship project again during the upcoming school holidays. This project has been running for about 50 years. The Rotary Club of Windhoek hosted their 6th Adventure into Citizenship last week. The Rotary Club of Knysna runs a similar project in the Southern Cape. These projects teach final-year scholars about how their city, district and country run.

Helderberg Sunrise Rotary Club recently handed over a cheque for R175 000 to Cape Town Opera.Since its inception in 2007 the Helderberg Sunrise Voice of Rotary Bursary Fund has contributed more than R1 million to the empowerment and professional development of a considerable number of singers, notably Pretty Yende, Aubrey Lodewyk, Arline Jaftha, Janelle Visag-ie and Siphamandla Yakupa, to name but a few. The funding has also subsidised educational material for the Vocal Ensemble (VE) and Studio singers. Vocal scores, DVDs and CD recordings of opera music are essential to the training of young singers and enhance their understanding of this complex and demanding art form.
