Diamond dust usually forms when a temperature inversion (drop) is present at the

surface ,and the warm air above the ground mixes with the cooler air near the surface(it

must be below freezing temperature for this to happen

Diamond dust could cause a lot of damage if it happened somewhere else besides Antarctica but since it mostly happens in Antarctica it doesn’t cause much damage but when it happens in another region it can cause car crashes , and low visibility levels (example how well can you see these letters in the trees)
