I’d like, as we are receiving the last ten days of the holy month

of Ramadan, to urge you to utilize the golden chance of these holy

days in intensifying our worship hoping Allah, the Almighty, to

accept our fast and our worship as well as awarding you for your

worship and devotion exerted during this holy month.

Undoubtedly, this holy month has deeply rooted in our spirits

several values which we bid you to preserve and avail of them

practically in work field since we hope the exertion and devotion

you put forth throughout this holy month to win Allah’s satisfac-

tion to last constantly to accomplish the goals to which the cor-

poration is looking forward. However, this can be easily fulfilled

through working keenly as one team to bolster the corporation’s

status on the territorial and international levels.

Certainly, each person belonging to the oil sector should be

proud of the achievements which are being accomplished daily;

however, these accomplishments would not be fulfilled without

your diligent efforts and sincere devotion.

Among these achievements is the ostensible and constant

communication with the institutions of the civil society since Ku-

wait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) puts the social aspect among

its priorities believing that its role is not only to explore, refine,

market oil and petrochemical industries and efficiently run such

activities but it also includes other aspects allotted on top of its

responsibility towards the society.

Consequently, its complete patronage for the society’s institu-

tions is ostensibly regarded; moreover, they – these institutions

– are proud of this constructive role of the corporation and its

subsidiaries.

es or work papers in the monthly newsletters issued by the con-cerned authorities at the corpo-ration.

What are the procedures ap-proved, in this domain, to grant the award?

The instant award is granted in ac-cordance with a number of simple procedures carried out by more than one department as follows:

• The concerned official, who is empowered to nominate person-nel for the award, is to fill the nomination form.

• Compensations Department af-ter that reviews and analyzes the data registered in the form.

• After ensuring that all nominees meet the required conditions, they are submitted to the con-cerned managing director to ap-prove them.

• Accounts Department is to be in-formed of the said procedures to cash the award to the winner; in addition, Public Relations Depart-ment is to be notified to publish the news in the monthly newslet-ter and through the internal elec-tronic page.

Finally, we hope that we’ve man-aged to illustrate copiously the in-stant award system.

It’s a pleasure to meet again through the third article of Com-pensations Window articles' series to shed more light on Instant Award System which has been initiated through a decision no. 34/2003 is-sued by KPC board of directors on June 21, 2003.

The employee is granted, in accor-dance with this system, an instant award for achieving any exceptional activity aimed to protect spirits or keep the assets of KPC and its sub-sidiaries or even for doing any sub-lime duty. Thus, Instant Award Sys-tem is considered a complementary tool for the other allowances which the corporation applies in favor of its personnel such as the annual increment, “Thank you card’’ and honoring the experienced employ-ees.

What are the goals of applying the Instant Award System?

This system aims actually to enable the corporation to award imme-diately its efficient employees for fulfilling exceptional duties in order to improve work efficiency and in-crease productivity to utilize well human resources and perk up con-sequently performance.

What are the conditions of win-ning the instant award?

The system has stipulated some principal conditions to nominate personnel to such award; however, we will mention some of these con-ditions as follows:

• To submit applicable new ideas or modern systems help increase productivity and improve perfor-mance particularly in cases relat-

ed to health, safety and environ-ment at the corporation.

• To take part in banning the oc-currence of accidents which lead to material losses or casualties, or even to participate in rescuing an injured colleague or provide first aid to reduce injuries.

• To partake in conferences, pres-ent researches or work papers represent KPC and underscore its effectual role in several activities; however, these participations must win rewards or at least be honored by the organizing au-thority.

• The managing director in charge can also grant instant award to the employee for any sublime ac-tivity he, the managing director, sees it deserves the award.

However, the system stipulates that these conditions must not be in-cluded among the career tasks of nominee.

What are the merits of the award?

Apart from the financial value of the instant award which may be es-timated to 300% of the main salary maximum, the system has actually added some other immaterial pros such as:

• Publishing the distinguished employee's name in the corpo-ration's monthly newsletter and through its electronic website; in addition to briefing the achieve-ment qualified him to win the award.

• Publishing also the eminent ac-complishments such as research-
