1 Introduction

1.1 General

The glandless circulator series is a pump range for mainly hot water circulation (heating) and hot water services (tap water) applications. Two material variants (cast Iron and stainless steel a) are available throughout the ranges.

The SimFlex Smedegaard series (Automatic speed adjustment) is designed for both heating and hot water services applications (SS version) and meets the Energy Efficiency Index EEI<=0,23 as set from August 1st 2015 by the European Union in the commission regulation (EC) No 641/2009 (EuP). The pump range SimFlex Smedegaard is equipped with a low noise permanent magnet motor and a frequency inverter.

The Magneta Smedegaard (intelligent) is designed for high efficiency hot water circulation (heating) applications. The pump series is equipped with a completely renewed hydraulics, advanced frequency inverter and permanent magnet motor.

For both pump series all necessary programming and adjustments is simply done by a single control knob located on the terminal box.

1.2 Applications

Both pump ranges have all their specific applications.SimFlex Smedegaard applications are:- hot water circulation for heating applications- hot water service systems (tap water pump types in stainless steel)- air-conditioning or closed cooling processes- industrial circulation processes

Magneta Smedegaard applications are:- hot water circulation for heating applications- hot water service systems (tap water pump type Magneta Smedegaard N 25-40/60/80/100 in stainless steel)- air-conditioning or closed cooling processes- industrial circulation processes

The circulator range has the following working range:

Minimum pressure

Minimum pressure pmin at the pump suction nozzle to avoid cavitation noise at an ambient temperature of +40 °C and a pumped-water temperature of tmax.

The values are applicable up to 300 m above sea level. For installation at altitudes > 300 m, an allowance of +0.01 bar/100 m must be added.

Minimum pressure

Minimum pressure pmin at the pump suction nozzle serves to avoid cavitation noises at an ambient temperature of +40 °C and the indicated fluid temperature of tmax.

The values are applicable up to 300 m above sea level. For installation at altitudes > 300 m, an allowance of +0.01 bar/100 m must be added.

Description of the Eco ModeIn Eco Mode, the pump characteristic curve (1) is quadratic. Starting at the discharge head setpoint HS , the characteristic curve intersects the discharge head axis at H0 = 1/4 x HS. By changing the differential pressure setpoint this pump characteristic curve can be adjusted to higher or lower differential pressures or discharge heads.Compared with the Proportional-pressure Control operating mode the Eco Mode can save more than 40% in electrical input power.See below for an example of an Eco Mode characteristic curve.
