what to do.For the past few years, Ihave been talking to anotherman. Nothing has happenedbetween us, but we are veryattracted to each other. Wehang out occasionally, andI cant stop thinking abouthim. He has a child with hislive-in girlfriend,so hes in the sameposition as I am.

I dont knowwhat to do. Myrelationship isbumpy and stress-ful, but I have ahard time leaving.-- Vermont

Dear Vermont:You have a com-mitment not onlyto your boyfriend,but to your child.It means you dont behaveselfishly and rashly, or inways that will hurt them.Being attracted to someoneelse is not unusual, but actingon those feelings puts you inthe wrong. If your currentrelationship is bumpy andstressful, please get coun-seling with your partner tosee whether you can putyourselves back on track.Whatever the outcome,cheating is not the answer.

Dear Annie: Our sonis in a wheelchair. The vanwe use for his transportationhas a ramp that makes load-ing and unloading simple.But in order for us to usethe ramp, we need a handi-capped parking space that isnext to a wide, striped area.Unfortunately, often some-one parks next to us in thestriped area before we returnto the van, which then makesaccess to the ramp impossi-ble. We cant decide whetherits ignorance or arrogancethat makes people do this.Are they not aware that anystriped area is a no-parkingzone?

A few years ago, wewere at a local mall atChristmastime, and park-ing was at a premium. Wewere fortunate to find ahandicapped space near theentrance. When we returnedto the van, a car had squeezedinto the adjacent blue-stripedarea. It required leaving myson unattended behind theother vehicle while I pulledmy car out. What made mat-ters worse was that mallsecurity was present and didnothing.

It makes my blood boilto see people use the stripedareas. Some of these peoplehave handicapped placardsor plates, so I guess theythink that makes it OK.It does NOT. The stripedareas are there to providesafe passage for individualsusing wheelchairs, walkers

or crutches, and for the lessable-bodied to get in andout of their vehicles. Themore inclement the weatherthe worse this problem is.And sometimes even the

local police use these areasto park. What kind of anexample are they setting? --Seeing Red About Blue

Dear Red: A poor one.We know that some peopleare dismissive of handicappedspaces and park whereverthey want. But most people

try to be respect-ful, so we assumethey dont realizethat these adjacentstriped areas areintended to be usedfor ramps, wheel-chairs and othernecessities. Please,folks, life can be

challenging enoughfor those with dis-abilities. Lets notmake it harder.
