    HoroscopeBy Bernice Bede Osol

    Family photosincomplete

Dear Annie: My wifeand I have been married for30 years. She has a son fromher first marriage who livesin another state. We havent

been to Keiths house infour years because my wifehas some health problemsthat keep her from traveling. Her relationship with Keithhas always been turbulent.

Keith and his wife are inthe process of adopting achild from anothercountry. They puttogether a book-let of family pho-tos to present tothe family that iscurrently raisingthe baby. Whenthey showed usthe booklet, wenoticed that her

daughter-in-lawsfamily is wellrepresented, andso is my wifesex, but she and I are not init at all. (We also are not inany of the pictures displayedaround their home.)

My wife is trying notto let this upset her, butI think they should knowhow much this hurt her. Idont want to jeopardize analready-fragile relationship. What should I do? -- LeftOut

Dear Left Out: The pur-poseful exclusion of yourphotos from both the book-

let and the family homeindicates that Keith is wellaware of what he is doing.Decide what you hope toaccomplish by talking tohim. Would he be sorry forthe hurt feelings? Wouldyour daughter-in-law sup-port your position? Pleaselet your wife handle this.Be supportive of her, let herknow how much you loveand value her, and suggestshe get some counselingto help her focus on betterways to deal with Keith.

Dear Annie: My friendand I like the same guy.Shes having a party, and

Mike is on the guest list. The party is a formal dance, and Mike has been droppinghints that hed like me to behis date to the party.

As much as I would loveto go with him, I dont knowif I should. I dont want toruin a friendship. But I alsodont want him to think Imnot interested. I really likethis guy. What should I do?-- Confused Crush

Dear Confused: This isone of those situations inwhich, no matter what youdo, someone will be unhap-py. The fact that your friendhas a crush on the same guy

doesnt mean he is interestedin her, and your social lifeshould not revolve aroundher preferences. If the situ-ation were reversed, wouldshe bow out for your sake?Would you want her to?You could tell Mike youre

going to the party anyway, and an official date isunnecessary. But its best tobe honest and not date Mikebehind your friends back.

Dear Annie: I read theletter from California, who was upset because herhusband destroys her cook-ware.

My husband and I havebeen married almost 50years. He spent 22 years in

the military as achaplain. He prom-ised that when heretired, he woulddo the cooking.(His experienceconsisted of usinghis Army field hatto cook C-rations.)

    He now cooks,vacuums and

sometimes doesthe laundry. Andyes, he has bro-ken dishes, and on

occasion, the food he makesis not palatable. Sometimeshe ruins the laundry. ButI praise God that I have ahusband who is so lovingand caring and willing to dothese things. Together welaugh it off, and I say, Ineeded some pink pantiesor We could use some newdishes. Hes 73 with kid-ney disease, and I might nothave him much longer.

    So, California, bethankful your husband

wants to cook for you. Hedoes it because he lovesyou. Dishes and pans areeasily replaced, but a goodhusband is a jewel to bekept. -- Wouldnt TradeMine in Pennsylvania

A person in a high position atyour place of business might start totake you into his or her confidencein the coming months. Some of theinformation you receive could be usedin ways that are personally profitable.

PISCES (Feb. 20-March 20)-- Although it will be easy for you toget along with most people, you canstill expect cross words to come out ofyour mouth if a nasty person ticks youoff. Avoid such types if you can.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)-- If you expect friends or family todo things for you that you can easilydo for yourself, youre going to beseverely disappointed. You had betterbe ready to go it alone.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)-- Even if youre sure of yourself, itisnt smart to forcibly impose yourbeliefs on others. You might win theargument but alienate your pals in theprocess.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)-- Although you may be able to seesome changes that would clearlybenefit your family, your kinfolk maynot be prepared to make them. To gettheir support, theyll need to see whatyou see.

CANCER (June 21-July 22) --Even if another has better ideas, youmay not be easily convinced. Make

sure that youre not putting the kiboshon something cool just because yourpride is wounded.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) -- Yourconclusions regarding how othersshould be managing their affairs willbe right on the money, yet when itcomes to your own bailiwick, youllsuddenly go blank.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) --Avoid inclinations to treat simplesituations in a heavy-handed manner. If you take yourself or events tooseriously, you are likely to just makeyourself sick.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23) --Attend to tasks that require know-how and concentration as early inthe day as possible, while yourefresh and alert. As time ticks on, yourtemperament and talents could losetheir cutting edge.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 22)-- Socializing and being with friendswill be fun, provided the time spent

with them is of short duration.Unfortunately, your social gracesmight not have much staying power.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23-Dec.21) -- Because your temper might havea short fuse right now, you could bringwoe to those who cross you and makeyou angry. Sadly, the probabilities ofyou misinterpreting others intentionswill be high.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan.19) -- Have the courage of yourconvictions, because if you dont, aknow-it-all might try to intimidateyou by discounting your ideas in frontof others.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)-- Instead of applying incoming fundsto new endeavors or merchandise thatyouve had your eye on, it would be awhole lot smarter to pay off some ofyour old debts first.COPYRIGHT 2012 United Feature Syndicate,Inc.
