NEW GENERATIONS, FUTUR OF ROTARY

• [Rotaract clubs don’t] face the difficulties and hardships alone because they have Interact and their sponsoring Rotary clubs to help. -- @RACMeteor

• The Four Way Test! Those four questions are the key to becoming a better professional & social entrepreneur. -- @Shanny_14

Conseil of Legislation 2013

Your club has many new strategies developed by the 2013 Council on Legislation delegates to improve your club members’ experience. Below are some of the key changes to help make your club even better.

A Better Club Board 1. Your club secretary is now always a member of the board. 2. Serve in your club for at least one year before leading as president unless your governor says you have enough experience to lead the club. Increase Member Engagement 3. You can participate in club projects or other events and activities for at least 12 hours in each half of the year to receive attendance credit. 4. When your age and club years total 85, you are recognized as not having to adhere to attendance rules. (Return to the former 85 rule.) Increased Membership Prospects 5. You can now invite individuals who have interrupted their employment or never worked in order to care for children or assist their spouse in their work to be members of your club. Improved Membership Transfers between Clubs 6. If you want to transfer to a different club, request a letter from your former club stating that you have no debts with them. If your former club doesn’t provide this letter within 30 days, your new club will assume that you owe nothing and are free to join their club. Easier Voting 7. You will get one ballot from your governor that includes all of your votes. 8. Your club selects one person to cast all of its votes at the conference. 9. Your club can concur with only one challenging candidate.

« New Générations » and « Youth Service »

The 2013 Council on Legislation changed the name of Rotary’s

fifth Avenue of Service from “New Generations Service” to

“Youth Service” effective 1 July 2013.

Although the name of the Avenue of Service will change for the

new Rotary year, the RI New Generations Committee has been

asked to advise the Board on how this language will be

integrated into other communications, programs, and activities

as well as committees and district leadership roles.

For now, we encourage all Rotarians to focus on their districts’

service to young leaders—and the positive impact in their

communities—as we investigate ways to talk about that service

in the months to come.

Rotary Club of Saint-Pierre In September 2011, Kalyan BANERJEE, RI President, honored our District 7030 and Martinique, with an official visit. Two Friends from the Rotary Club of Saint Pierre have produced an album on this exceptional event. Many Rotarians from Guyane and Guadeloupe came to live this highlight of Rotary’s history in Martinique. In this album, you will see the reception at the airport, the trees planting project, Rotary Club of Lamentin’s meeting and the gala evening. Album souvenir to possess and offer (the benefits are for Rotary Foundation). It is a rigid album of 56 pages A4, landscape format and in high quality photo paper.

In Memoriam PDG Harold DAVIS (RC Georgetown) It is with deep regret that I inform you of the passing of our PDG Harold Davis in Guyana, August 25th. PDG Dunstan has honored us by representing our District 7030 during the funerals and has transmitted our condolences to his widow Maylene. Harold served as District Governor for the year 1989-1990 when we were District 405. He hosted a District Conference at the Pegasus in April, 1990 , this at a time when Guyana had severe economic problems. Harold and his team did an outstanding job and many of us still remember the bus tours etc to the regions outside of Georgetown. He was a member of the Georgetown club and at one time was head of the Sugar Industry. He was involved with that industry for decades. He also served on several Corporate Boards.
