“PUBLIC SERVANTS DOING PUBLIC SERVICE”

We are looking forward to growing this program and expanding beyond the quarterly monthly meetings, so we hope to hear your ideas. Thank you everyone for the generous and wonderful donations in response to our Community Outreach Programs in 2017. Support of our local communities is not possible without any of us. A note from our Seminar/Professional Development Committee Chair:

Greetings!

After serving as the chair of this committee for over 17 years, I feel that it is time to step down from this role and provide an opportunity for someone else within the membership to learn this very important position and provide guidance to other members related to their professional development. If you are interested in being the chair of the Seminar/Professional Development Committee, please let me and Mindy Gallegos, [email protected] know. If you want to speak with me about the position before committing, please feel free to call me. I would be able to guide you if you decide this is something that you would like to pursue. It does provide points for recertification. Ideally, we would like for the person that takes over this role to be centrally located within the DFW Metroplex. Below is a list of the general duties that are required:

• Survey the membership each year to see what seminars they are interested in (this has already been done for next year)

• Fill out the online seminar request form and logistics form and submit to NIGP

• Update seminar information on the website

• Send communications to the membership about upcoming seminars

• Select and schedule location for holding the class

• Send confirmation with location, hotel and transportation information to attendees

• Work with NIGP to provide information to the instructor, to include hotel info, classroom setup and equipment needs, transportation information, etc.

• Purchase food and beverage breakfast items for the class and provide setup for class

• Receive class materials and check to make sure the appropriate materials were delivered

• Return seminar evaluations and attendee information, as well as excess class materials to NIGP

• Submit invoice for room rental and receipts for food and beverage to chapter treasurer for payment/reimbursement

Thanks! Cindy White, CPPO, CPPB Director of Purchasing Collin County Community College District Collin Higher Education Center (972) 758-3871 [email protected]

Just a short note from the President…

As we soon come to a close of this 2017 year, we also welcome the new 2018 year which will be filled with exciting, educational, and networking opportunities for our DFW Chapter members. With DFW hosting the 2018 Lone Star Conference in Texas, there is a still lot of preparation and planning to do. To make our conference a success, many have already offered their services in several capacities and we will welcome all volunteers, before, during, and after the event. Please remember to tell your friends all over Texas and Oklahoma about the conference in late May 2018. And of course Pro-D Day training next October will be so beneficial to all of our members. Please allow me to say “Thank You” to every one of our NIGP and Chapter members, the DFW Officers, committee chairs, meeting speakers, and volunteers throughout the DFW Metroplex area and purchasing realm. Our Chapter is the best group of Purchasing Professionals I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Our membership has grown and I believe that with its purpose, so many new folks coming into Public Purchasing will richly gain from this local chapter and its members through training and networking. Regards and Happy Holidays, Karen Bell, CPPO and DFW Chapter President
