Dyson airbladeuse - the dyson airblade has made drying your hands more playful as it has introduced a different motion to watching your hands. It also intallls some anticipation as you pull your hands out over the 12 seconds it takes to make them dry.Manufacture - dyson’s airblade is manufactured from polycarbonate-ABS, which is flexible and strong. other uses of abs include riot shields and police helmets.Sustainability - carbon emissions breakdown;8.5% manufacture, 1% transport, <1% end of life process, 90.8% energy in use. Although the products emissions mainly come from usage of the product, it is 80% more efficient than the conventional hand dryer using a heating element.

CENK KARA’S LEMON SINkuse - the lemon sink is used in the same way as a normal sink would be used, however the playful aspect of this product comes from its vibrant eye catching lemon colour. using the lemon shape and colour to impress a refreshing vibe to the user through the product.manufacture - the tap fixtures are made from stainless steel were the tap has been moulded then filled with the molten material, then cooled, removed, finally being finished and assembled. the sink however is made from fireclay coated in porcelain. the fireclay is heated to a high temperature then the porcelain is fused onto it.sustainability - the material which is used in this product is environmentally friendly, however the process of manufacture creates a lot of carbon emissions because of the high heat needed to recreate the natural process of stone being formed, therefore porcelain isn’t the most energy efficient material that could be used. materials and finishes keep advances so a more environmentally friendly material could be used here.

Advertisements over hand dryersWolf hot sauce and durex used the hot aspect of their products to simulate the heat from the hand dryer just by placing over sized product pakaging and images over the existing hand dryer. The playfulness aspect of the product is given by the oversized pakaging and the associations between the pakaging and the hand dryer.use - the same as a standard hand dryer.manufacture - the oversized pakaging is a plastic shell attached to the hand dryer. the shell would most likely be made by an injection moulding process. the canvas which the product image is situated upon would be either rigid plastic or Aluminium with the image printed onto vinyl and attached with adhesive.sustainability - these products don’t have a long liife span as they are part of a marketing campaign. companies often change the marketing stratergies and these products will change rapidly making them very unsustainably, although if the correct materials are used they could be manufactured very environmentally friendly. These products however could use such materials to improve their sustainability.

This product works by fusing the playful element of a game with the tedious routine of washing your hands in a restroom.

Soaps up! is made from ABS which has an enamel surface finish. The game uses touchscreen technology which increases the users interaction with the product rather than standard buttons. the touchscreen is hidden by a material known as electrochromic smart glass, which is opaque whilst the product is not being used but becomes transparent when the surface of the product is touched. this allows the user to see the screen when in use but also looks inconspicuous whilst it isn’t in use.

There’s an option for the user to play the game or simply just dispense the soap.A competitve element is also added through using a point system and a high scores board which furthers the playful aspect of this product.

after the game has been played an onscreen message tells the user that it is about to dispense the soap.
