Program 22.11.2016
Special Exhibition at Centre CharlemagneFrom the hissing Fafnir to the vehicle of the future
Aachen has a lot more to offer than science and education. The city of Charlemagne with its rich history from the Roman Age until today is presented in a refreshingly modern presentation at the Centre Charlemagne in close vicinity to the cathedral.
A special exhibition illustrates Aachen’s role as a center of automobile innovation.
Until the 1920s all sorts of motor vehicles had been built in Aachen. Cudell, Fafnir and Mannesmann-MULAG were well-known brands that were exported all over the world.
The universities in Aachen are doing vehicle-related research now more than ever: driving technologies, new materials, energy storage, lightweight body constructions, traffic control management, concepts of mobility - research covers the whole spectrum of automotive and traffic engineering. Characteristic for the universities in Aachen:
The results of research are usually tested right on the spot and translated into new products.
In addition to the historical dimension of automobile production in Aachen, the multi-media exhibition will show how cars have changed the city and what the car of the future will look like according to the engineers at Aachen’s universities.
