Developing Teaching Cases with focus on Responsible Management & UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Workshop on

June 14, 29 & July 8, 2021

www.ndimdelhi.org

Cases are used in management education around the world. In addition to providing

information on business world, teaching cases offer an opportunity for students to

engage in making tough business decisions. Students develop analytical thinking by

using the information provided in the case and link it with theoretical framework from

their courses, to generate options for problems that the cases describe. Thus, cases

engage readers in tackling challenges and problem solving to promote critical thinking

from multiple perspectives. A good case is invaluable as an effective pedagogical tool

by being a participant centric method of learning. It allows for complexity of real world

to be brought into the classroom in manageable ways. Currently responsible

management and sustainability are focus areas in management education and the

corporate world; and there is demand for teaching cases in these areas across

geographies. Hence, the present workshop will focus on these for case development

from any management discipline. Crafting a good case is a valuable skill for faculty and

organisational scholars.

The workshop will be conducted in three phases: Phase 1 will provide conceptual inputs

and guidelines for developing a case. Phase 2 will have two weeks’ break for developing a

draft case. In phase 3 the draft case will be submitted to the NDIM workshop

Director and presented for peer feedback. The participants will receive helpful

suggestions for publishing the case. The cases, after peer review may get published in

International Case Research Journal, case journal published by SAGE, Emerald, the

journal of Western Case-writers Association, Journal of Case Research and Inquiry,

among others.
