Today’s Agenda• Parking Lot (5 minutes)– Teachers write questions/comments/concerns on a sticky-
note and place it in the parking lot. These items will have priority during Q & A time.
• Announcements from DPS & DPI (5-10 minutes)• Mini-PD (30-35 minutes)– Developing Performance Tasks
• Questions, Comments & Concerns (15 minutes)– Parking lot items will be answered first.

Cumulative Assessments• Multiple choice – from a
test bank• Developed by CIA Staff• Graded Scantron• Addresses the objective
knowledge and skills of unit.
Small Goal Assessments• Performance Tasks – Project
or Product• Developed by PLC• Graded with a rubric• Addresses the learning
targets that can’t be assessed by a multiple choice test.
What’s the Process?Identify the learning
targets you want/need to assess with your
Common Formative Assessment.
Create performance task and rubric to assess the subjective targets. (SL,
W)
Teach the targets of the unit. Administer the
Small Goal Assessment.
With your PLC, use the rubric to grade the SGA and to analyze the data to determine student
mastery.
Using the rubric, give descriptive feedback to
your students.
Decide which learning targets, if any, you need
to address again in coming units of study.
Characteristics of a Performance Task
• The task presents students with a problem (preferably real-world).
• Students provide a tangible product for a defined audience.
• Evaluation criteria are appropriate to the task and known to students in advance.
