Determine Military TimeDetermine Military Time• Military time is required because a Soldier’s day is 24
hours, unlike normal civilian days.
• The U.S. Army tells time by using the numbers 1 to 24, which represent 24 hours in a day.
• A day begins at one minute after midnight and ends at midnight the same day.
• An easy way to remember how to convert civilian time into military time is to add 12 hours to the time if it’s past 12 noon. For example: If the civilian time is 6:53 p.m., you would add 12 to 6 and say the military time as 1853 hours.
