MVH 90C/200C
General descriptionThe SKF MVH equipment is used to precisely analyse the structure-borne noise and vibra-tion of deep groove ball bearings, angular contact ball bearings, self aligning ball bear-ings, spherical roller bearings, etc. The ma-chines are also used as the SKF reference equipment for these measurements.
The MVH 90C/200C is semi-automatic; only loading the bearing to be tested on the testing spindle, the pressing of the two-hand start and the removal of the bearing must be done manually.

The MVH 90C/200C equipment can be described as follows: An extremely precise sliding-
bearing spindle, which drives the inner ring of the bearing under test.
A pneumatic axial loading unit with adjustable test load.
The two-hand operation starts the automatic test cycle: the axial loading unit applies an axial load to the outer ring and moves the bearing against the testing spin-dle, and the pickup is applied on the stationary bearing outer ring. The noise is measured (freely programmable measuring time), analysed and displayed. Once
completed, the loading unit goes back and the machine is ready for the next test cycle, etc.
Resetting for another type of bearing can be done quickly and simply. The holding arbor on the spindle and the loading tool in the axial loading unit are then exchanged and the pickup is posi-tioned against the new bearing.
The MEA 200 velocity-propor-tional pickup, with a almost linear characteristic curve up to 10 000 Hz, receives the radial vibration of the bearing through its stationary outer ring.
The vibration analysis is per-formed by the included measur-
ing electronics. Normally the three standard frequency bands are evaluated. Within these bands the tolerance limits are freely programmable and/or are available after selecting the appropriate bearing type. Evalua-tion criteria according to custom-ers requirements (specific spectrum masks) are possible. Frequency spectrum and detailed analysis of the spectrum is also used to determine the locations and causes of the bearing vibra-tions.

Datasheet for vibration tester
The inner ring of the bearing is rotated at a constant, set speed during measurement.
An axial load is applied to the outer ring of the bearing by means of a specially constructed tool.
A pickup, the tip of which rests against the outer ring of the bearing, converts the radial vibration of the bearing into an electrical signal. The signal is proportional to the velocity of the pickup tip.
The signal is amplified and ana-lyzed. The vibration level is measured in three frequency bands. The "peak" content of the signal is also evaluated. This pro-cedure is being repeated in the
next station with the axial force applied in the other direction.
Proportionately fast "peaks" can be caused by for example dirt in
the bearing or by damaged bear-ing components.
Although a relatively small dam-age can perhaps not be observed in any of the vibration bands, it can be detected in the peak anal-ysis.
Vibration measurement data is sent to the MEB 95 analyser.
The vibration measurement tol-erances various bearing types are stored in the computer. All meas-urement data are compared with these tolerances.
If the measurement data are within the tolerances, then bear-ing continues to be tested. If the measurement data are outside the tolerances, then a reject mes-sage is shown on the screen.
