1 History of

Department

The Department was established in 1988 with all facilities as per MCI requirement under

the guidance of Dr. Nanjappa, a senior professor and HOD Dr. Babu S Nema. In Jan 2003, MD

Pharmacology course was started with the approval of MCI. The department is active in the field of

pharmacovigilance and research. Our Department is recognized as Adverse Drug Reaction

Monitoring Center under Phamacovigilance Programme of India by Indian Pharmacopoeia

Commission, National Coordinating Center, Ghaziabad from July 2015. The central animal house is

registered under Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals

(CPCSEA), New Delhi.

2 Vision To establish a department in training of under graduate and post graduate students in

pharmacological concepts and its application in clinical medicine and research

3 Mission To device instructional strategies to promote critical thinking and problem solving skills

To adopt assessments that evaluates the above competence

To encourage involvement of students and faculty in research activities

4 Objectives To introduce OSPE for formative assessment and validate the stations To increase the number of publications by department faculty To initiate undergraduate students to carryout research projects To hold atleast one CME per year
