Luso Water Society – Quinta do Cruzeiro – Bottling Plant The Bottling Plant is located near Luso, a small town approximately 200 km north of Lisbon metropolitan area. Generally works in 3 shifts, with approximately 115 full-time employees. The mineral water source is a natural underground reservoir 78.5 meters (Borehole 1) or 138 meters (Borehole 2) beneath the ground, at 4500 meters from the plant. The water rises naturally through quartzite rocks, flowing by gravity through stainless steel pipes to tanks (around 2.5 million liters storage capacity). The empty bottles are sent to filling machines, where water flows directly from the storage tanks by stainless steel pipes through stainless steel filling nozzles. The bottles are then capped, labeled and coded. The filling rooms are under a positive pressure environment that is closely monitored and controlled. After production, pallets are stored in a modern warehouse, waiting Quality permission to be shipped to intern market or one of the export clients (USA, Canada, Japan, Angola, etc.).

Hydrogeology of Água de Luso Mineral Water System In Buçaco mountain, a thick formation of quartzites support a hydrogeological system composed by three main fractured aquifers: i) the upper aquifer of Luso, ii) the mineral aquifer of Luso, and iii) the mineral aquifer of Penacova. These three aquifer systems have some similar signatures, like litology, meteoric water recharge, low mineralization and hydrogeochemical facies. The mineral aquifer of Luso differs from the others, due to its higher temperature and silica concentration, ascribed to a deeper circulation and higher residence time, promoting higher water-rock interaction. The exploitation of the mineral water of Luso is made by 2 boreholes and a spring, located in Luso village.

Luso Thermal Complex Luso Thermal Spa is the perfect match between tradition and modernity! Legacy from the 19th Century, with the classic concept of thermal treatments, present Spa goes much further considering not only healthy usage of Natural Mineral Water, but also the modern facilities focused on the “balance of body, mind and soul”: relax, massages, water rituals, swimming pools, shower, saunas, etc.; everything was developed to provide a wonderful and unforgettable experience to the Guest.
