Filtration and UV treatment
- No chemicals! No risk of increased corrosion!- No hazards to crew, vessel or the environment!- No salinity limitations!- No temperature limitations!
UV-IRRADIATION
The UV treatment takes place in units with a flow capacity of 300 m3/h. Each UV unit is equipped with 60 highly efficient low-pressure UV lamps:
• Highly energy efficient - Just 7 kWh per 100 tonnestreated water!
The UV lamps operate at low temperature, just 150 deg. C:• No minerals or dirt gets burned onto the quartz sleeves• Warm-up time less than 2 minutes• No cool down period - when ballast operation is stopped
the systems stops immediately.• Not sensitive to air pockets
The UV lamps have extremely long lifetime:• The proven lifetime is 12.000 hours operation
USCG type approval
• All USCG type approval testing has been completed and type approval application was submitted to USCG in March 2015
• In december 2015 USCG made an initial decision to not accept the MPN method which had been used in our and others testing
• The initial decision has been appealed in february2016 by DESMI and others.
• Final USCG decision is pending
• If USCG final decision will be to maintain rejection of the MPN method, we have to redo some of the testing with the FDA method, which is accepted by the USCG
• We must significantly increase the applied UV dose:• More powerful UV lamps• Reduced flow
