raisedstoneentrance,andironworkrailings.Naturallightflowsthroughtheinteriorsalltimesofday,sincethehousefacessouth.Thewindowsarelarge,andthefloorplanisveryopen.Lightisalsoreflectedoffthewhitewashedfloorsthroughout.Thegracefulswoopingstaircaseoccupiesthecentralpointandisgreatformakingadramaticentrance!Itreinforcesthesimplicityandsymmetryofthearchitecturalplan.

itforashowhouseandaskedtwotalentedartiststocreateit.Mycabinet-makerbuiltitandinstalledtheblue-and-whitetiletop,andmydecorativepainterappliedtheagedivoryfinishandtheelegantbluebrushworkdetailontheapronandlegs.

What is the biggest design challenge you face in your own space?Mybiggestdesignchallengeistodeclutterandpartwiththestacksofoldmagazinesfilledwithinteriorsthatcontinuetoofferinspiration.Iwasamagazineeditorearlyonanddevelopedanaddictiontostunningrooms
