GREAT ESCAPESWhen the often-moving family—a Navy orthopedic surgeon and his wife and three children—decided to make the North

Shore their home, they called on Senior Interior Designer Angela LaVista of Sweet Peas Design (sweetpeas-inspired.com) to turn the Craftsman-style house into a space that worked for the whole family. LaVista started by establishing the interior’s palette, using shades of gray, grayish blues, creams and cowhide tan throughout the house. That consistency was especially

useful in creating harmony in spaces like this formerly awkward corner of the master bedroom suite that LaVista designed as a space for reading or relaxing. The chaise lounge by Kravet looks out over the wooded lot, and there’s a handsome alpaca throw to chase away the chill. The accent table is by Caracole and has an intricately designed top with Swarovski crystals floating in acrylic over a gold leaf base—just a little bling to bring the space to life. The wife noted, at the conclusion of the project, that

LaVista “knew exactly what I loved and pulled my house together so it’s amazingly gorgeous.” –Laura Hine
