Even though my time at The Design Partnership (DP) was brief, I was able to learn so much. The project, on the corners of Van Ness and Turk in San Francisco, will soon become the home of the Pacific Vision Foundation. The building for the project will undergo a remodel, incorporating different sustainable features and a gorgeous 3 form light wall. The proposed features of the model were built as frosted pieces of plastic, the existing in white museum board. A few challenges the construction of the model incurred was the sloped site (bass wood), many windows, rounded corners and a flush fit. An effective way of showing design intent is the use of a physical model - especially a section model like the one I built. During the interview, the Design Partnership showed off the model, adding on the frosted proposed pieces when talked about, and opening the model up to show the suggested light wall. The light wall had three different size options, depending on the budget and aesthetic preference. I am pleased to say that the model was a success, as DP obtained the job to help make the Pacific Vision Center bright.
