Aston Hotels are welcoming and practical, offering anexceptional combination of style and function - outfitted for a luxurious escape,but equipped to please the most discerning traveler.

Aston Hotels are typically 150 to 300 rooms in size and have the usual facilitiesand services one would normally expect to find in a 4 & 5 star hotel such as acoffee shop, meeting rooms, ballroom, parking space as well as a spa and gym.

A normal 150 room Aston would cost between USD50,000 and USD80,000 perroom bay. Design time usually takes two to three months and following one ortwo months of bidding, from ground breaking to soft opening day can normallybe done in around one year.

MEETING ROOMS

Consideration must be given when designing for successful meetings.

Approximately 150sqm in size with a rectangular shape is required to allow for

several arrangements and efficient circulation. Small alcoves are good places to

provide refreshments and for acoustic use. Use soundproof, removable padded

partitions to divide the rooms for smaller meetings.

MEETING ROOMS

Meeting rooms are important facilities for Aston Hotels. Three 100sqm meeting

rooms are a minimum requirement but the more meeting rooms the better. A

simple yet modern contemporary design with interesting touches and a good

flexible lighting system are ideal.

ROOM CORRIDORS

Corridors need to be minimum 1500mm wide and2200mm height up to ceiling. The wall coveringshould be wallpaper or washable wall paint.

The ceiling should be covered with paintedgypsum board or equal, in order to cover thepipes & cables.

Flooring should be carpet/carpet tile, except forthe semi-outdoor corridor, which can be a non-slip homogenous tile. Skirting should be plywoodfinished with light grey duco paint.

The lighting could be recessed down light in themiddle, or could be wall mounted. There shouldbe one lamp in front of each door and shaft.It is preferable to have a window and opening atthe end of each corridor to maximize natural lightand fresh air into the building.

A gym and spa are normally recommended. These may range in size from 30sqm to 800sqm. Larger ones may be outsourced in conjunction with or without the spa.

Swimming pools can be located on the rooftop or on the podium. Resort hotel swimming pools can be placed on the ground with a more playful design (lagoon type). Adult pools must be 1.4m deep and kids pools must be 60cm deep – they must have a 4m separation.

BACK OF HOUSE

BOH space is for areas such as MEP, workshop, stores and offices.Use white ceramic tiles for the floor, gypsum for the walls (except in wet areas) and brick wall forthe cashier’s room. All walls must be equipped with skirting tiles of around 10cm and finished withwashable paint. The ceilings may be exposed and painted in most areas. GM’s and sales officesshould be dropped ceilings with a nice finish.

KITCHENS GENERAL

150sqm kitchen for standard 150 rooms and 3 meeting rooms hotel. Provide an open or glassed in kitchen in the restaurant to create a more intimate feeling.

A separate pastry kitchen/bakery is required.
