3.02a Sustainable Construction
• Sustainable building systems as a
standalone point system instead of
being a multiplier under CUI
• Recognised use of precast under
Sustainable building systems
• Tied green concrete scoring to
various tiers of SGBC certified green
concrete.
3.02c Sustainable Products

Pre-requisites
Extend SC pre-requisite to Gold projects
Additional requirement for Gold+ and Platinum to
score pre-requisite 1pt from Carbon Accounting
(i) Conservation and Resource Recovery (1 point):
• Conservation of existing buildings or structures Applicable for projects built on sites with existing building structures.
Where the existing building on site is conserved and not demolished, the
full points can be scored.
• Enhanced Demolition Protocol to maximise resource
recovery of demolition materials for reuse or recycling 1 pt for recovery rate of >35% crushed concrete waste sent to approved
recyclers with proper facilities
3.02a Sustainable Construction
(ii) Resource Optimisation (7 points):
• Part 1 (Capped at 4 points) Concrete Usage Index (CUI) and Adoption of Sustainable
Building Systems
• Part 2 (Capped at 3 points) Low-Carbon Concrete

Low Carbon ConcreteUp to 3 points can be scored based on the design and use of low-carbon
concrete, defined as concrete comprising elements such as cements with
clicker content ≤400 kg/m3 with/without recycled/engineered aggregates
such as recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) and washed copper slag (WCS)
from approved sources to replace natural coarse and fine aggregates.

3.02b Embodied Carbon
Embodied carbon of building- CO2 produced during
the manufacture of materials, their transport &
assembly on site, maintenance & replacement,
disassembly
Embodied carbon- Accounts for 13-18% of the total
carbon footprint of any construction project
(UNEP, 2007)
3.02b Embodied Carbon
Criteria Points
Use of BCA Online Embodied Carbon Calculator to
compute carbon emission of various building
materials (as shown in table below)

Manual
• Develop local carbon inventory (web-based)
• Track performance of local building projects in terms of embodied carbon footprint equivalent (CO2eq).
• Improve and reduce embodied carbon footprint in the local building sector.
Previous Green Mark version Enhancement for GM2015
1. Scores when a product is
used, have being used as
a mean to ‘top up Green
Mark points’
Holistic approach to use products;
encourage systems approach to
products use
2. Observed that only few
repeat suppliers and
products were used all
the time
Allow more variation of products
and suppliers to participate in
supplying the required products to
meet the same objective
3. Minimal design/ Design
using less resources are
not being recognized
Gives recognition for design using
less resources; especially where
there no necessity for additional
products
