Furniture Design Forum 2014: Rethinking Design

The 12th edition of the annual Furniture Design Forum features: Claudio Colucci, an excellent all-rounder known for his minimal, dynamic and colorful style of work; David Carlson, an influential facilitator, cross-pollinator and design thought leader; and Tim Power, Founder & Principal of Tim Power Architects and a designer in the world of Advertising, Art, Fashion and Technology. This forum aims to encourage a cultural exchange of ideas, inspiration and instill a spirit of entrepreneurship among designers in Asia and around the world.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: ANDREW KNOWLES
What are the driving forces for food cultures and food trendsetters? How do food businesses stand out from the competition in a saturated market? How to compel the demanding customer beyond his taste-bud?
Mr Andrew Knowles, chairman of Jones Knowles Ritchie (UK), will explain the role of design in completing a consummate food experience; the evolving global food services sector; and the opportunities for surprising the customer. Two Singaporean food businesses and their respective design consultants will also present their success stories.

The 1/2 day Interior Design Summit is organised in-conjunction with Singapore Design Week in March 2014. It is a capability development platform for interior designers to learn from the invited speakers on the development of interior design with a proposed theme of "DESIGNPRENUER". The participants will be able to gain understanding on the business of interior design such as the influence on design decision.
The Future of Asian Creative Industries
The half-day programme is a cross disciplinary capability development platform for designers in interior design, graphic/visual communication design and product design. Invited speakers will provide insight of how DESIGN can influence one’s experience and perception for image, place or object design. The event will also give an indepth understanding of the potential working synergy and exchanges of creative industries in Asia.

Whether in-store or virtual, shopping habits have evolved. Retailers must respond with new strategies for retailing. It is no longer enough to satisfy customers. They demand to be surprised too, with a shopping experience that’s hard to forget.
Ms Debbie Kokoruda, design director of Proctor & Gamble, will share her perspective on the global trends in retailing; how design innovation is critical to staying ahead of the retail game; and the retail experience of P&G as one the world’s largest multi-national of consumer goods.Two Singaporean retailers businesses and their respective design consultants will present their success stories in having used design to transform their business.
