Here we are at the end of another regular season and many of our friends have already left for their summer homes. We wish them a good summer and safe travels. As many more continue leaving, we wish you the same. We look for- ward to seeing everyone again next season. The activity office officially closes on April 1st. Please con- tinue to keep an eye on the lobby board to stay in- formed about what’s going on. We hope you participated in and enjoyed all the activities this sea- son. Stay cool and have a wonder- ful summer. There are no scheduled or planned activities for those of us left, how- ever, if someone decides to plan an event it will be posted in the lobby; so keep an eye out so you don’t miss it. The last Church service for the season was Easter Sunday, March 31st, the Church services will re- sume on November 3rd. The last Bingo night will be Thursday, April 11th and they will start up again on October 17th. Monday night Darts also ended in March, so unless some people or- ganize something on their own, it also will return next season. There will not be any potluck lunches in April unless someone decides to organize one and then it will be posted. Make sure to keep an eye on the bulletin board in the lobby; you wouldn’t want to miss and impromptu pot luck lunch! The computer user club was a big success this year and will be tak- ing the summer off now. Look for them in the fall. The activity office will open next season on Tuesday, October 15th. The first dance of the season will be the Halloween dance Saturday, October 26th with the American Kountry Band. This will be our Halloween Party / costume night. Do you need work done around your house or lot this

summer? Desert Shadows highly recommends Ebelio or Jessie. They are available after hours and on weekends. Just

The annul spring couples golf tournament was held

March 15 at Bellair Golf Course. Fifty six golfers

enjoyed the beautiful weather and good company

for a great day of golf. About 70 people attended

the awards dinner held in Iron Works Restaurant.

Cash awards were presented to the

winning teams:

First Place Team: Ralph Spiva,

Val Crump, Paul LeMay and Pat

MacCourt

Second Place Team: Bill Braden,

Kathy Mueller and Jim Porter

Third Place Team: Bill Pudlik,

Doris Kelly, Walt Theyerl and

Elaine Borgen

There were awards for “closest-to-the pin” on two

holes each for the women and for the men. Doris

Kelly and Lynn Cunningham won the womens and

Ralph Spiva and Dwayne Eberhardt won the mens.

Everybody putted with a goofy putter we borrowed

from Juel Carman and five people managed to

make a putt – a record!! Bill Crump won the putt-

off and we all went away vowing to purchase a

“goofy” putter!!

Plans are already under way for the 2013 fall tour-

nament tentatively set for November 15 so start

looking for a partner soon. Also, a big “thank

you” to all those who donated their time, prizes

and to those who played golf. We look forward to

seeing all of you in the fall. Travel safely and

have a wonderful, golf-filled summer.

Thanks everyone, Afton Leaton, Doris

Kelly, Grant White and Richard Heried

Talent Show

I would like to give a first timer’s view of being an

act in this year’s Desert Shadows talent show. I was

very impressed with the entire process, and Jim was

an excellent director. Behind the scenes was an un-

forgettable experience. Everyone was very suppor-

tive of each other and

encouraging. As each act

finished and returned to

the back everyone

clapped for them with

hugs all around. Was a

very heartwarming and

moving experience. The

show of support and encouragement was beyond

anything I ever experienced. It made me so glad

and happy to be part of the Desert Shadows Family.

Thank you all so very much. The audience was also

above and beyond with their laughter and applause.

Thank You!

The Desert Shadows has been

working on a new website!!! We

finally have it updated, so next

time you are on the internet, go

c h e c k i t o u t a t :

www.PhoenixRVresorts.com. We are still

“tweaking” some of the pictures and content, but

for the most part it is much more modern than be-

fore. Some of the features that you may find inter-

esting is the new section for the Newsletter. All of

our newsletters and calendar can be read on the

site in full color, from your computer, ipad or even

smartphone. We are also starting a Blog on the

site, where we will have articles and things of in-

terest. Lastly, we have a link on the site for you to

“like” us on our new Facebook page and become a

“friend”… We are going to try to use the Desert

Shadows RV Resort Facebook page to show pho-

tos of events and spread the word on some of our

activities in the future. Just click on the “like us”

button on our website to check it out.
