11 Speech and Drama (Age 10 - 11)

Azfarr Baginda Drama is one of the most important assets to learn in our lives. Through Drama we learn to explore the way other people think, feel and communicate, helping us understand others and ourselves on a higher level. Not only this – Drama assists with presentation, voice production, team building, networking and marketing skills helping us with business, employment and schooling. More importantly it is tonnes of FUN! One of the reasons Drama works so well is that there is no “correct” answer, so participants can safely explore options without the fear of being wrong. This makes them equal in the Drama class and empowers those who perceive themselves as less able in other areas such as voice production or communication or even in the classroom. They soon come to realise that all opinions are valid even if they are not acted upon. Thus it builds confidence and makes ‘can’t do’ into ‘can do'.

15 Tae Kwon Do Leong Yong Wah Many assume that Taekwondo is just mere kicking and punching. Some even view it as more of a sport now than martial arts and self-defense, especially since its introduction to the Olympic Games. It is undeniable that participating in tournaments and bringing home medals is a big part of Power Sport Taekwondo Academy’s objective. However, our interest does not lie only in the medal count. We believe in bringing up members that are well disciplined. To us, having an average fighter with true sportsmanship is better than having the best fighter with an attitude problem. Our club is one place where discipline is very much emphasised. Training under us does not only help members to be fit, strong and competent tournament fighters. It also helps train members to be responsible, respectful, initiative and confident. Values such as these are vital in being successful, whether in the arena or in life – something that cannot be judged or compared to by the number of medals one wins.

16 UNITE Soccer (Previously KORU)

UNITE Soccer School - Adam Scott & Dave Jennings

Football (also known as ‘soccer’ in some countries to discern it from other sporting codes also referred to as football) is the most played sport in the world. It is a game that incorporates skill, coordination, fitness, psychological tactics; and in the realm of sport, draws on a competitive spirit and most importantly team work. Football requires discipline and challenges the individual physically and psychologically. Children are nurtured from the stage of individuality where they tackle their own players and it seems wrong to pass the ball as they may not get it back, to the level of developing individual skills, positional play, and working as a team to maximise results.
