DESCRIPTION The CL-231, Prony Brake, provides the possibilityto load a motor to determine experimentally its load characteristics. The Prony brake is also useful when making tests with a stalled rotor. Friction between the belt and the rotating disc is controlled through a handle. The generated force is conveyed to a balance by means of a 15-cm (6") lever, that gives a reading of the force in Nm and lbs/ft. Included in the CL-100, Rotating Machines for 1/3 HP, 250W.
