Modals: Auxiliary Verbs• Use modals to make requests, offer or ask permission

– “May we leave now?” “Could you help me?”

• Use modals to discuss ability/inability, possibilities/impossibilities

– “I shouldn’t go because my class might have a test today”

• They are always used with a verb. Never alone.
