General Notes: There is an old Bible that was once owned by Jacob Kuykendal that had written on the flyleaf of the front of the book "Jacob Cuykendal's family Bible." Following this below there is written"Peater Cuykendall died January, 1822, in his 90th year." This is said by the descendants to be the Bibleowned by Jacob, the grandson of Pieter first. He inhrited the farm of old Pieter Kuykendal, his father, onpresent site of Port Jervis.

General Notes: VICTOR HERALD March 30, 1917 OBITUARY CUYKENDALL Henry T. Cuykendall, aged 51 years, died at his home on School Street in this village earlyWednesday morning. The cause of death was heart trouble, with which Mr. Cuykendall had for sometime been afflicted, aggravated by a serious two weeks illness with grippe. Death was not unexpected, ashis life had hung in the balance for several days. Henry T. Cuykendall was the son of the late Mr. andMrs. Archibald Cuykendall, and was born, May 27, 1862, at Owasco, NY. When 23 years of age, Henrymarried Miss Francie Francisco at Sempronious, NY. Mr. and Mrs. Cuykendall moved to Victor in 1902,and resided here since. Mr. Cuykendall was an industrious, straightforward, and kind hearted man andhad made many friends in Victor. He was the organizer and first chief engineer of the Victor FireDepartment, and should be held in grateful memory by the citizens of this village for his unselfish andpublic spirited efforts in behalf of that organization. He had long been an employee of the LockeInsulator Mfg. Co. Mr. Cuykendall is survived by his wife and six children, three daughters, Goldie,now Mrs. Homer Hunt, and Gertrude and Mildred Cuykendall, all of Victor, and three sons, Archie andHoward Cuykendall, also of Victor, and Earle who resides in Rochester, and six grandchildren. A sister,Mrs. Fred Sherman, lives in Moravia. The funeral services will be conducted from the family home onSchool street on Saturday afternoon. Rev. James W. Cuykendall, first chief of the Victor Fire Department, wasadopted at a meeting of the department council, held on Thursday of last week. The Victor FireDepartment desires to place on record its expression of sympathy with the bereaved family of our formermember, Mr. Henry M. Cuykendall. In their great loss and sorrow through his death, and to record thehigh esteem in which he was held by his fellow members. It was due to his active urgency several yearsago, that a volunteer Fire Department was organized in the village of Victor, and by his continuedfostering was thoroughly equipped with apparatus for modern use. The department members havebeen stimulated by his sincere interest and helped by his good fellowship, and the entire community hasbeen the beneficiary of his service, It is hereby resolved That this memorial minute be entered upon therecords of the Department and published in the Victor press, and that a copy be sent to the family of ourbrother. General Notes: THE VICTOR HERALD, Friday, November 17, 1916 Cuykendall - VanDenbergh - Miss Alta Lucile VanDenbergh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.Jenner VanDenbergh of this village, and Archie Cuykendall, son of Mr. and Mrs. HenryCuykendall, also of Victor, were united in marriage in the manse of the Methodist Episcopalchurch of Holley, by the pastor of the church, the Rev. Loren Stiles, on Thursday morningof this week. The ring service was used. During his fourteen years' pastorate in Victor, Mr.Stiles was the officiating clergyman at the marriage of four daughters of the VanDenberghfamily, Miss Alta being the fifth to pledge her marriage vows before him. The bride andgroom were unattended. The bride wore a suit of taupe broadcloth with large, black velvethat and a corsage bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums. Soon after the ceremony, Mr. andMrs. Cuykendall left for a short wedding trip, and will be at home after December 1st, intheir already furnished residence on School street. The bride was born in Victor and has grown to young womanhood in her native town. Forseveral she has been chief operator in the local office of the New York State Telephone Co.Mr. Cuykendall is now employed as an engineer by the Locke Insulator Mfg. Co. For sevenyears he served in the United States Navy. Both have many friends who extendcongratulations and best wishes.
