Richard Russell "Rick" RiordanJr. (born June 5,

1964)is an American author best known for

writing the Percy Jackson & the Olympiansseries. He helped develop the ten books in The

39 Clues series, published by Scholastic

Corporation, and wrote the first book in the

series, The Maze of Bones.

Book Overview

A brother and a sister named Dan and Amy Cahill had a lifewith their mean old great aunt since their parents died.

When they find out that their loving grandma died, they

went to her funeral and got a choice of getting one million

or a clue to a treasure that will make them the mostpowerful person on earth . Dan and Amy chose the clue

and they knew the quest begun.

Dan Cahill

Dan is a funny 11 year-old kid in the book. He like to jokewith his sister Amy. When he found a secret passage in

the library and his sister said It might be dangerous.

He joked You are right, ladies first. he also likes to

collect things , he collects baseball cards , autographs of

famous outlaws , Civil War weapons and more . Hes also

very smart, he used his talents to solve clues during their

quest and that is Dan.

Amy Cahill

Amy is 14 and she is shy in the book. Amy doesnt like

Crowds she wanted to run up to graces library, close

the door ,and curl up with a book because she wanted

to get away from the crowd. She is also like to readbooks , reading is how Amy hides her feelings.

Cahill family

There are four branches in the Cahill family: Janus ,

Thomas , Lucian, and the Ekaterina. 40 members of the

family got gold invitation cards. But only 16 members

of the family accepted the quest. The rest each got onemillion dollars. All of Dan and Amys relatives were

never nice to them. They are all selfish and they are

determined to get the serum to be the most powerful

person on earth.

Main Events

Dan and Amy searched the clue in the library andfound a secret passage they solved part of the firstclue by finding the Poor Richard Almanac.

Fire burned down Graces mansion and they lostPoor Richard Almanac.

They went to Franklin Institute because they wantedto find more about Ben franklin, the author of Poor

Richard Almanac. Dan and Amy went to Paris because they found a

note writing by Ben F. follow my life.

Main Events-contd

Dan and Amy figured out that the clue-maze of bonesthey found in the first clue referred to Catacomb in Paris.

In the catacomb, they looked for bones that were putthere in 1785, the year when Ben Franklin left Paris.

They found Roman numerals on some skulls and figuredout it was a location which led them to a church.

They found a music sheet in a secret passage, thatshowed the second clue is in Vienna, Austria.

At the end of the book, the solved the last part of thefirst clue and found out it was an anagram ofResolutionwhich is Iron Solute.
