Product PROS CONS
NTAEDTA
- Efficient chelators
- NTA is classified as H351 suspected of causing cancer- EDTA CLP labelling H373 “may cause damage to organs…”- Cannot be used in Ecolabel products- Environmental concerns (suspected to remobilize metals)- No threshold effect cost efficient replacement with FS grades
MGDA, GLDA, IDSNa - Efficient chelators - No threshold effect cost efficient replacement with FS grades
Dequest® FS Range for aminocarboxylates replacement
Why replacement?
Product FEATURES
Dequest® FS 0520 Dequest® FS 0536N
- Excellent chelation properties particularly at high pH- Can be used in Ecolabel products- Threshold effect- Soil dispersion- Not readily biodegradable but not persistent in the environment because they exhibit
some biodegradation, undergo hydrolysis and are subject to photodegradation. They will be eliminated from effluent by absorption onto water treatment sludge.
- They do not contribute to eutrophication- Do not remobilize metals- Not carcinogenic

• Protect metal surfaces from corrosion during
cleaning both in Laundry and ADW
• Can be used in presence of chlorine bleach
• Better cleaning performance vs classical
phosphonates on bleachable stains (tea, cocoa, ink)
in HDPD
BenefitsFeatures
• Stable to oxidisers and extreme environment (pH13)
• Synergy with bleach system
• Inhibit calcium salt precipitates on fabrics or on hard
surfaces – incrustation prevention in HDPD,HSC,
disinfectants for swimming pools
• Efficient calcium carbonate scale inhibitor
• Highly effective aluminium and ferrous metal
corrosion inhibitor (can replace silicates)
• Reduced handling risk
• Deliver nice secondary benefits in ADW and HSC
• Low mammalian and environmental toxicity
• Prevent Spotting, Streaks and Filming
• Similar benefit of regular phosphonates at lower P
content• Low phosphorus content

Dequest® FS 1528 and FS 1530 in I&I Benefits in pool disinfectants: NO residues
DEQUEST® FS1528 and FS1530
Avoids the formation of Ca Hypochlorite salts, preventing deposition
on the walls of the swimming pool or in the dilution pump
• Disinfectant for swimming pools are usually presented in concentrate tablets or in solutions,
releasing hypochlorite
• Swimming pool water has a high content in Ca and Mg salts.
• Ca and Mg react with Hypochlorite and form insoluble salts = deposition of scale and reduction
of disinfectant activity
• Dequest® FS1530 can be used in tablets and Dequest® FS1528 in liquids
• Dequest® FS 1528 / FS 1530 prevents spots and streaks on ceramic and metal
surfaces in addition to providing anti-filming on glassware
• Protect dish washing machine, its steel components and tableware from corrosion
• Similar benefit to classical phosphonates, at only half the concentration
• Can replace the use of highly abrasive silicates (standard corrosion inhibitors)
• Delivers cleaning performance and corrosion prevention
Dequest® FS 1528 and FS 1530 in F&HC and I&I Dishwashing: spotting, filming and corrosion inhibition
Dequest® FS 1528 and FS 1530 Conclusions
• Primary benefit:
- Dequest® FS1528 and FS1530 inhibit scale formation in cleaners for surfaces and in disinfectants
for swimming pools
- Dequest® FS1530 and FS1528 inhibits calcium salt precipitation and avoids the negative
effects induced in textile incrustation: fabric whitening, harsh touch, spotting and filming
- The new grades improve stain removal performance of detergents
- Good performance in extreme environment (pH 13 and strongly oxidizing)
- Can be used in liquid or powder detergent
• Additional benefits
- Corrosion inhibition : can allow claims like - “hard against scale, safe with metals”
- Stable in chlorine bleach formulations

aminocarboxylates in
spotting prevention
Dequest PB in Professional Automatic Dishwashing
• Dequest® PB11265 is Ecocert approved
• Dequest® PB11265 has better dispersion power than low molecular weight polyacrylates
• Dequest® PB11625 delivers better performance on stain removal compared to Polyacrylate (MW4500) even when used @ lower (2/3) dosage “as is” in automatic dishwashing detergents
• Dequest® PB11625 provides synergy when used in combination with aminocarboxylates(MGDA, GLDA, etc…)
• Dequest® PB11625 delivers performance improvements in rinse aid products for better shine on glasses
• Solid grade has been developed to be used as co-builder in solid products (powders, tablets, blocks…)
Conclusions
Dequest PB in Professional Automatic Dishwashing
• Thanks to its anti redeposition properties Dequest PB can find application in whiteness maintenance in laundry detergents
• Additionally can be an interesting material for ecolabel water softeners, where it plays a role in preventing scale formation and deposition
• Dequest PB range finds effective application in the rinse aid products to deliver spotting and filming prevention, plus shiny effect to glasses and cutleries
• Dequest PB range is also used on surface cleaning, many customers report a nice shiny finishing effect on surfaces such as glasses and stainless steel
Other cleaning applications of Dequest® PB
SPE 1436 (solid CMI on a carrier) is much easier to handle, keeps its flowability even in
extremely stressed conditions!
